Have you ever just looked at a person and thought to yourself, "I'd love to smack him with a pillow?" Well, if you haven't, you certainly will at the gargantuan pillow fight that takes place in NYC every year. What am I talking about? I'm talking about NYC's 8th Annual Pillow Fight- an event so awesome it grew to what is now also the 6th Annual Pillow Fight Day (we're talking global Pillow Fight Day, here).
I had to be out of town for this last year, but fortunately a group of you got together, went, and posted the pictures here. I've been jealous ever since and waiting with barely contained patience for my opportunity to wreak havoc with a bundle of downy softness. And of course, I want all of you to share that opportunity with me. So if you'd like to strike from on high with pillowy wrath, come and join us for this absolutely guaranteed to be fun event.
Just a couple things to keep in mind:
+ Soft, feather-free pillows only!
+ Swing lightly, many people will be swinging at once.
+ Do not swing at people without pillows or with cameras.
+ Remove glasses beforehand!
+ Deposit pillows in donation boxes or take them with you.
+ Pajamas welcome.
Not only is this an opportunity for great fun, but also a chance for good works. Last year Pillow Fight folks donated over 1500 pillows to homeless shelters in Brooklyn and the Bronx. So you might consider donaating your pillow this year.
Newmindspace also does a great job of cleaning up the park each year after all the fun has been had. If you're interested in volunteering for the cleanup crew, email [masked]
We'll be meeting on the Southeast corner of Fifth Ave and 8th Street, just one block from Washington Square Park. From there, we'll walk and then wreak a havoc wrought of pillows.
