Saturday Speedwork: Central Park

Plain and simple, the only way to run faster is by running faster. So in order to start shifting gears or break out of that running plateau, we need to incorporate speedwork into our weekly schedule.

The main starting point will be at Columbus Circle by the gold statue (not the silver unisphere).

Warm-up: 20 mins of easy running followed by dynamic stretches (strides, high knees and butt kicks).

Workout: TBD (posted weekly)

Cool down:  15-20 mins of easy running followed by some light static stretching.

Where do I leave my stuff?

The New York Running Company at the Time Warner Center (located on the 2nd floor) has open bins, and lockers behind the cash register. To use the lockers, you must bring your own lock. They also have changing rooms. These services are free. The New York Running Company opens at 10am on Saturday.

What time does the run actually start?
Plan on arriving at 10:30am, but we won't start running until about 10:45am in case people need to change or drop off their stuff at the NY Running Company. We will start no later than 10:45am.

After the run once everyone is together again, we can grab some food nearby.

These workouts are
*not* beginner-friendly, please make sure you have a solid running base of at least 1 year of consistent running. Running is already a high impact activity. Speedwork places additional stress on all parts of the body so it is important that runners posses the appropriate amount of experience and strength to avoid injury. Listen to your body. Don't ever push yourself through a workout if you feel any pain or discomfort.

Call/text Henry at (646)[masked] if you have any questions or are having trouble finding us.

** only RSVP 'No' if you were previously a 'Yes'.
