Sunday Central Park Fun Runs

Let's get together and run in Central Park. This run will be very beginner-friendly, but we welcome runners at all levels. We will be running anywhere from 2-12 miles depending on what everyone is looking to do.

The main starting point will be at the Columbus Circle by the gold statue. From there we will jog counter-clockwise on center drive then onto east drive. For those looking for an easy run, we can stay on the lower loop of the park. Each loop is 1.7 miles. If you want a more advanced run with hills, we can run full loops around the park. We'll coordinate what everyone is doing when we meet. In your RSVP please include your goal pace, distance, and what you will be wearing so that we can find you easily. If you're a new runner and are not sure of your pace, don't worry, we will figure that out for you once we get out there. The New York Running company at the Time Warner Center has changing rooms, and free bag check. Restrooms are available at the Time Warner center as well. The water fountains are now available so you will not need to bring a drink.

If everyone can agree on the same pace we can all run together and people can break off as they meet their goal distances. Otherwise we will designate pacers and break up into pace groups.

For every run, we will pick a place to meet at the end. Once everyone is together again we can find a place to eat/drink nearby. We can use this time to talk about running in general and about everyone's fitness goals for 2012.

Hi all. Central Park is open, so the run is still on. The only thing is that the reservoir running track is one of the areas that remains closed. So the easier run option can be to run on the lower loop of the park. 1.7miles x 3 would put you at 5.1 miles. The lower loop is pretty flat. The more advanced/hilly run can remain as usual, 1 full outer loop (6 miles).

I still don't know how to feel about the cancellation of the marathon... Anyway… Although transportation is better, the subways are not back to normal... Henry, let us know if the run is still on or you want to cancel it… I’ll be in the city… I’m planning to bike downtown

Thanks for the support and kind wishes! Unfortunately the marathon has been cancelled. We can still organize a run like Ivonne said. Stay tuned.

    Hello!!!
First, Best wishes for Henry in the ING NYC Marathon!!!!
Second, the idea is to meet at 12.00pm in the same place (see above). We will run in Central Park if it is not too crowded for the Marathon... If it is too crowded, we can go running by the West side highway along the Hudson river.
Third, hopefully our subway system is back up and running!!
    See you there

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
