After taking the 4 hour class on the lake at Fort Yargo in July, think still water paddling is for me for now. Have enjoyed lakes in canoes and row boats and now think kayaks are the way to go!

What Diana is saying about this Meetup Group

Really appreciate that the 4-hour lake class is offered. I was a newbie to kayaks when I took the July basic class for beginners on the lake at Ft Yargo. No reason to be intimidated, you're not expected to try anything you're not comfortable with. Everyone in the group laughed with each other as we got in (and then out) of our kayaks for the first time. Think still water paddling in lakes is my preference for now. John gave us the skills to do that and made the activity fun for kids and adults. He's very accomodating and will let you try whatever you want to try including falling out of your boat if you want to learn to get back in out in the middle of the lake. John kept saying "Oh, I haven't taught you the splash stroke" - SPLASH! He never did teach us that stroke - probably in self defense since there were 11 of us and one of him!
