This in-store clinic is recommended if you are planning to attend the Sunday, July 21, 2013 "Free Outing - Birding Essentials Kayak/Canoe at Sycamore Island" from Oakmont to Sycamore Island.

Join L.L.Bean to learn to use binoculars, read field guides, understand migrations and much more in our introduction to this fun and captivating outdoor activity.

    bird species to listen for along the river; Yellow-throated Warbler (in the big Sycamore trees), Yellow-throated Vireo, Cerulean Warbler, Hooded Warbler, Kentucky Warbler, American Redstart, Great-crested Flycatcher, Acadian Flycatcher, Eastern Wood Pewee, Scarlet Tanager, Wood Thrush, Red-eyed Vireo, Warbling Vireo, American Goldfinch, Carolina Wren. Look for Belted Kingfisher, Great Blue Heron, Spotted Sandpiper, Rough-winged Swallow, Louisiana Waterthrush, Red-tailed Hawk, Turkey Vulture, maybe an Osprey, maybe a Bald Eagle, maybe a Broad-winged Hawk, a Sharp-shinned or Coppers Hawk.
