Hi all

There are a few options for that area. If you look at a map you will see that part of the wetlands passes right under rt 79. This part can get very hot on a summer day and seem like it will never end. If you are looking North the water flow is to the right-east, and it goes for quite a long twisty way until it drops into the French Creek. Take out there would be under the rt 173 bridge in Cochrantown.

Put in is a little more dicey, or at least it used to be- I haven't paddled that part for quite a while now because I think there is another spot that is much better paddling. If you want to do this part there used to be a small put in spot- not very nice- right under the rt 79 bridge. Hop off the exit and head to the bridge is the best way to get there.

If you get off the exit and head towards Geneva ( the Geneva swamp part ) and Cochrentown you go to the first real right turn option and follow to just across the small stream if my memory serves me right the road was Geneva rd.. Parking there on the left and you would access the water to the left. To the right, and back down toward rt 79 used to be blocked by some chains across the water. To the left, what we commonly called Geneva Marsh in the day, is very nice paddle past long narrow islandish parts and into and out of the marsh. My suggestion is to paddle that part. There used to be some Eagles there far to the treeline on the left going up stream after you pass all the islands I just mentioned. Much prettier area. You would return to the same access point you put in at.

Have a great time... it's a nice area

I'm very interested in paddling at that area. I've  been driving my son to Allegheny College for four years and I've never stopped to check it out. Lots of hoping and wondering but no paddling. I have another son there for the next three years but I don't want to wait any longer. When can we meetup?  Weekends are available or a weekday with enough notice.

Has anyone paddled in Conneaut Marsh in Pennsylvania south of Meadville? It looks like a HUGE wetland for this area and I'm wondering whether it's worth paddling in.  Anything interesting to see in there, or just miles and miles of lily pads and willows with no shade to speak of?

Thoughts?
