It is that time of year to check your kayak to see if your permits are up to date. If you paddle on any waterways controlled by the PA Fish and Game Commission, or Civil Corps of Engineers, or any State Parks, or most county parks, then you need a launch permit, or a registration permit. The cost is 18$ for 2 year permit, and can be acquired at some State Parks( Moraine), or online at PA Fish and Game website. Or you can do by mail.
Also note we will be planning some paddles at Cross Creek Lake this year which requires a Washington County permit costing $7.50.
Boat Launch Permits Obtaining a Permit
To receive a boat launch permit application for the boat launches at Cross Creek County Park and Ten Mile Creek County Park, call the Washington County Department of Parks and Recreation at (724) 228-6867. To request an application by mail write to:
Washington County Department of Parks and Recreation

NOW is the time to get your permits. Not the day of the first paddle which will be very soon.
Many places do not patrol on a regular basis, , but places like Moraine State Park patrol with binoculars and check all boats for stickers. I am not sure what the fine is, but am pretty sure it is more than 9$
