Re: [kayaking-129] Fwd: Paddle upper Beaver River between New Castle and Ellwood City?

Beaver River Trip

Take out- drive down Rock Point rd to the Connie and park up by the RR tracks. Be careful not to leave anything or linger too long on the ramp into the water. That's Boat Club property and while they don't mind using it some members get peeved if they have to wait.

Put in- Mt Jackson bridge off rt 18. Immediately at end of bridge there is a small space- swing wide and you can drive through and into a nice space with access to the water under the bridge. Short 2 ft drop to water so be careful.

On trip- riffles right past Wampum bridge and under RR bridge, easy.

Then some islands, the last one is very shallow on left. Small access on right, if you took left you will probably be walking boat.

Look for concrete. Pump building on right. When you see it, about 100 yards on left look for small stream coming in on left. Take out and follow trail ( mind poison ivy) and come to great waterfall- worth the walk.

End- take out on Connie but dont forget to paddle up it to 1st rapid- look for the old steps and trails.
