Are you an explorer? Do you enjoy paddling? Are you retired? If you answered yes to these 3 questions, you might be interested in a trip my brother and I are planning. We are searching for a small group of die hard explorers who love primitive camping, paddling and hiking. This will be a great trip for those who would like to travel out of state for extended periods of time. You must have a deep interested in exploring the outdoors and be physically able to paddle an average of 40 to 50 miles per week. Our 2015 explorations will take us across the Adirondacks and beyond into some of the most remote boreal forests known to man. Trips will begin in late April 2015. We plan to spend several months in the Adirondacks and then head over to Vermont and New Hampshire. We plan to paddle lakes and slow moving rivers. The trips will consist mostly of flat water canoeing or kayaking combined with nature photography, birding, hiking, fishing and camping. You must be available for a minimum of one week at some point during the summer.
The plan is to camp overnight on riverbanks, in lean-tos or in state campgrounds for a predetermined period of time. Most trips will last 1 to 2 weeks in one area and repeat itself in another area. All of the areas we plan to paddle will have groceries and other gear needed on our trips. Total paddling distances will generally be less than 10 miles per day. There are also carrys, (portages) some of which can be as long as several miles. Each trip will include a complete daily itinerary on where we plan to paddle, hike and camp, when we’re leaving and when we plan to return. For everyone’s safety, itineraries will also be filed with the proper authorities before our departure. Each event will include a complete list of everything you will need. A series of meet and greet meetups will occur a month or two before we head out.
