Thank you Daniel!!! You gave us all of the details to have a fantastic weekend of kayaking, camping and time around the camp fire. Read your post, and ever since I have known you through meetup you would never intentionally exclude anyone ( 4 + years?). You go out of your way for everyone to know about the event! Thanks for a weekend of fun for the 5 of us!!! You are the best!!

Will watch the web site for the next camping/kayaking event at Jonathan Dickinson Park, I hear that the camping sites are excellent and kayaking is great. Didn't camp this trip but wasn't impressed with the Lock Road campsites, no shade trees, too much dust on the road, and a total lack of the semblance of privacy at the camp sites. Not my kind of camping. Really enjoyed the river trip, quiet, easy paddling, and a great group of participants. hope to paddle agin with this group. John B.

Very pleasant paddling on the South Fork of the river. Just the right distance for the round trip, and a very nice halfway stop for lunch.

You can't get lost on this river, one way down & one way back. Groups always get separated; some go fast, some go slow and some just wander off. Bikers; I still don't know what to tell you other then there are a few kayakers who want to go biking after they get off the water, somewhere around 2 - 2:30?

If you need to call me use my cell number[masked]-6995.

    Good morning Boys & Girls.

    Weather this weekend; Friday 83 / 69 / 0% chance of rain - Saturday 83 / 65 / 0% chance of rain & Sunday 81 / 65 / 20% chance of rain. This forecast is for Stuart.

Check-in for the campers is 3pm, but if you get there earlier I'm sure you can set up. I'll have a campfire Friday & Saturday evenings on site 17 with s'mores on Saturday.

Saturday morning we are meeting at the outfitter at 10 am to go kayaking. Figure about 4 hours on the water which includes a stop for lunch (bring something to eat and drink)

NOTE: It always happens; someone calls to say they are running late and can we wait for them? To put it simply, NO. We will wait 15 minutes max and if you are not there we are leaving. Its not fair to all the others who made it on time to wait for the ones running late.

Unfortunately, I'll be driving up on Saturday morning and will be missing the kayaking. But once we get there we'll be heading out to do some mountain biking near by. I tried to call the park so many times to confirm my campsite # but can't ever get to talk to someone. So it will a surprise.

I'm bringing my fat tire bike. Halpatiokeee Regional Park 8303 SW Lost River Rd - Stuart is but 3 miles away, said to be excellent off-road biking, plus the Lost River (aka S Fork of St Lucie) runs thru it. Q - if we find it, it is still Lost?

Welcome to those who have signed up in the past week, we are happy you have joined our weekend of BIKING, CAMPING & KAYAKING THE SOUTH FORK OF THE ST. LUCIE RIVER.

If you haven't already, please post what you are doing (camping / kayaking / biking) so I'll have some idea who to look for at what event. If you are camping please post your campsite.

    TIMETABLE;

CAMPING: Friday & Saturday nights, check-in is at 3pm and check-out is at 1pm on Sunday

KAYAKING: Saturday morning we'll meet at the outfitter at 10 am. Bring lunch & drinks; we'll stop at the picnic ground, which is half way (actually it's at the end but we still have to paddle back) Figure four (4) hours out and back.

BIKING: The bikers need to organize themselves on when they are going. I know some kayakers want to go biking after the kayak trip. The outfitter also rents bikes.

I want to come for Friday night only. I can not locate the camp reservations section on the website. Does anyone have room for one person for Friday?

    April 20, 2013

  • Daniel F.

Kitty called and told me due to a health issue in her family she may not be able to come camping. She was going to stay in my pop-up camper. If she can't make it I'll have room in my pop-up for one person. If no one wants to stay in the pop-up I will bring my tent. You need to let me know ASAP.

    April 19, 2013

  • John B.

Hi Daniel: I will try to make on Saturday for some paddling. I wanted to check out this site for future camping anyway so this will be a good opportunity for me to do so and to get into some paddling at the same time. John B.

Same as before. Still on campsite # 1. Planing to do the kayaking, and maybe biking, depending on the time and location. Mary

    April 17, 2013

  • Daniel F.

I received a message from Anthony about not being able to book a camp site. You need to call and talk to the Park manager. If need be, leave a message. He's good about calling people back, but just in case, leave another message.

    April 17, 2013

  • Kim L.

I am staying with Daniel on his site #17. I will be kayaking on Sat and Sun and biking Saturday afternoon, after the paddle. Looking forward to the trip!

    April 16, 2013

Not that I know of Luis. Call the camp ground and ask them. The bike trail around the river is only a 5 min. drive from the camp ground.

    April 16, 2013

Any bike trails in the general vicinity of the park ??
    Thanks

Hi to all here, we are a party of 4, 2 adults 2 teens looking forward to meet all of you. I believe we got site #3. Into both kayaking n biking.

    April 16, 2013

  • Daniel F.

Aileen, I believe are on site #16 with Vicky. Kim, are you sharing site #17 with me?

    April 16, 2013

  • Daniel F.

I know Kitty is camping with me in the pop-up but I'm not sure who I talked to about sharing my camp site. If you think you are sharing my site please let me know.

    April 16, 2013

  • Aileen

I'm sharing #17 with Vicky & you? I'm making plans to kayak & bike.

    April 16, 2013

  • Daniel F.

Thanks Lucette, you're camping next to us, I'm on 17.

    April 15, 2013

  • Daniel F.

One reply; Robert is camping (site 21), kayaking then going on a leisure bike ride around the area, after lunch.

    April 15, 2013

  • Daniel F.

In an effect to make this weekend go smoother for all of us (well, me anyway) I would like you to please update your RSVP and let me know what you are doing; camping, kayaking, biking or both.

It would make it easier for me to know who's doing what so I know who to look for in the camp ground (camp site number would be nice, I'm on 17) or kayaking, I don't want to go off and leave someone.

Bikers, you're on your own to organize your group. It seems some want to go biking after the kayak trip so I suggest you identify who's biking and when you want to go in you UPDATED RSVP.

So far we have 25 people who have signed up for the weekend, I just don't know who's doing what, yet! But I know what a disciplined group of you people are and how quickly your going to UPDATE YOUR RSVP, just to make my life easier.

    Thanks

    Daniel Fineberg

P.S. Why couldn't the elephant ride the tricycle?

    • Daniel F.

Robert, just so you know, the biking I'm talking about is not in or around the Camp Ground Park, but around the river where we are kayaking.

      April 13, 2013

    • Robert G.

      Thanks Damiel,
I might rent a mountain bike

      April 13, 2013

Looking forward to this meetup. Especially because of DANIEL.....Daniel are we riding together? if yes when leaving and can I bring my bike? Luv Ya....Kitty

    PS my twins coming, right?

  • Daniel F.

Louise sent me this note about leading a bike ride after kayaking. Not being a biker (my tricycle is broken) I didn't think about when the bikers would ride. Hi Daniel,
I'm bringing my bike and look forward to go biking but that's going to be after I'm kayaking. I'm more than willing to set a group for biking in the afternoon.

If you were thinking of having a group biking in the morning than someone else will have to
    do that.

    Let me know

    Louise

I would suggest the bikers post a note on the event page so others can identify who is biking and try to connect with each other as to when they want to go biking.

Would love to join you Saturday for Kayaking and possibly biking.
