Sunday Jazz Brunch Trip!

RATING - Beginner SK2 (click on link to see rating info), approx 7 miles, Medium Speed

This trip tends to have flat water, currents up to about 2MPH under some bridges, eddy lines and non-intuitive current flows to be aware of, and noticeable slow-speed boat traffic as you paddle the New River.  If tidal currents in the New River are challenging to you please review the expected tide at the Andrews Avenue tide station.

LOCATION & TRIP DESCRIPTION - This trip launches from a flat rocky beach near the Tennis Center toward the north side of George English Park (the park at the corner of Sunrise and Bayview Drive, across from the Galleria), runs south through the Las Olas Isles to the New River, and west into the heart of Downtown.

DESTINATION - The Sunday Jazz Brunch (http://www.fortlauderdale.gov/events/jazzbrunch/jazzbrunch.htm) is a year-round monthly event featuring a variety of Jazz, food & drink , and various crafts from vendors along the Riverwalk.  Please plan on bringing either money or food, as well as something to sit on while you enjoy the music and company.

KAYAK RENTALS - Kayak rentals are not available for this trip.

PARKING - FREE at the Tennis Center launch - don't park in the metered area, there are occasionally break-ins over there.

GEAR - BASICS plus SUN CLOTHING.  Food (or money) suggested, water required.  A line for tying off your kayak is also strongly recommended.  Please visit the GEAR page link for specifics!

Another excellent jazz trip. This is a great way to spend a very relaxing Sunday. Good tide planning by Phil which led to a nice return ride.

It was really great to met you. We may be heading to the Keys for an overnight if Sandy finishes her work. I can't recall the paddle you liked near Islamorada.

There is a lighthouse near there, about 2 miles offshore, you can paddle out and back. I don't remember the details but if you poke around on the internet you should be able to get better info.

A good time out in the heat! Nice paddle back, a guy on an SUP did a head stand while we took pictures.

Do you have trips where I would be able to rent a kayak?
    Thanks,

Join all American kayak group. Erica always has boats to rent, and she is super nice too.
