Traditional Inuit Paddlers of the Southeast
When: May 9-11, 2014
Where: Lake Marion, near Summerton, SC
All skill levels welcome: Do you paddle with a Greenland paddle? Have you ever wanted to try one? Have you just been curious about those “sticks” that some people paddle with? If so, then the first annual TRADITIONAL PADDLERS RETREAT, conveniently located in the heart of the Southeastern US, is for you! Proven Format: Modeled after the Delmarva Paddlers Retreat, this is our first ever, Southeastern event with a focus on sharing and mentoring Greenland skills, culture, and history, and just plain having fun in a relaxed atmosphere. This event is in the process of being reviewed for Qajag USA sponsorship.
Shared Learning: Your registration will include a series of workshops on land as well as on the water and all meals and lodging (Yeah, no cooking!!). Take advantage of this new opportunity to learn from masters, mentors, and each other in the Greenland way! A sampling of the workshops to be held are strokes and maneuvers, rolling, rope exercises, and rescues. Watch our web site for Surprise Guest Mentors!
Additionally, a special workshop to make a Traditional garment you can use will be held on May 9th. This will be lead by a special guest and Greenland artist! A separate fee will be collected for this workshop.
Fern White and Fran Symes ( F2 ) are proud to be the organizers for this weekend event. For details and registration, visit our website at http://www.traditionalpaddlersretreat.org or contact [masked] or [masked]
