2 Night Fisheating Creek canoe/kayak rustic camping trip

The water level is high so let's go paddling!   This will be a 3 day 2 night canoe or kayak trip.   We will be departing from the Fisheating Creek canoe outpost in Palmdale.  Our group will paddle upstream Friday and Saturday and camping along the water's edge.  On Sunday, we will paddle downstream back to the campground.  This is a mostly narrow, twisting and turning river traversing Cypress forests.  there are no established campgrounds and no facilities.  All supplies need to be transported in and out.  you will need to supply your own food, water, cooking equipment, and camping supplies.  Hammock camping or small backpacking tents are most appropriate.  Canoe rentals are available from the outfitter.

Fisheating Creek Campground is on US 27 approximately 16 miles NW of Moore Haven, 1 1/2 miles North of the intersection of Hwy 29 and US 27 and 1 mile south of Palmdale.  You must register at the campground for 3 days of backcountry camping and pay parking fees when you arrive.  Call them in advance to reserve a canoe if needed[masked]-5999.  there is a day use fee of $2.00 per day per person.  The outfitter will provide you with a wristband, which must be worn the duration of the trip.

The water level is at 1.05, which is insufficient for a good paddling trip. We will still be camping and hiking.

So has the trip leader had any conversation with the Fisheating Creek Managment to see how the rain affected the creek? [masked]). I would love to go but I'm not managing this trip. Thank you.

My suggestion is to watch if there will be rain tonight like its supposed to and then call Fisheating Creek Thursday to see what the water level looks like.

I was at Fisheating creek this last weekend, and the water level is very low, and dropping. Going north, you can only paddle a couple hundred yards, and then it's nothing but land. Going south, there was a decent paddle, but not with out its portages.

It looks like the water level will be too low for kayaking on the river this weekend. It is down to only 1 foot. Some of us have reserved campsites at the park. I am thinking of backpacking in and camping in the backcountry. We will still have an event, and we will still have fun. But it won't be paddling fun. Unless we get lots of rain this week.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
