Wednesday Night Paddle

RATING - Beginner SK2 (click on link to see rating info), Night Trip, approx 5-8 miles, Medium Speed

This trip tends to have flat water, currents up to about 2MPH under some bridges, and can sometimes have brisk winds, though we usually pick a sheltered route on windy nights.

LOCATION & DESCRIPTION - This trip launches from George English Park (the park at the corner of Sunrise and Bayview Drive, across from the Galleria) and has about a dozen possible routes depending on wind and current. This trip can be as long (or short) as we feel like making it! Snacks/dinner afterwards sometimes, location TBD.

PARKING - FREE at the Tennis Center - don't park in the metered area, there are occasionally break-ins over there.  Don't park in the spaces reserved for Tennis Center, though it's OK to pull in briefly to offload.

LAUNCH - The launch is from a flat rocky beach near the Tennis Center toward the north side of the park.

KAYAK RENTALS - Kayak rentals are not available for this trip.

GEAR - BASICS plus NIGHT TIME GEAR. Please visit the GEAR page link for specifics!

Working late, can't get away in time. Hopefully next week. Sorry, Rick

Glenn, Wed. night is the slower group. We go as fast as the slowest paddler. We are there to make new friends and have fun. But, you must wear a PFD and have proper lights - red, green, and white. Olivier, Erica does kayak rentals. She is with All American Kayak, also on Meetup. She often joins us on Wednesdays. You must reserve the kayak in advance and she brings it to the launch. Hope to see you all on the water soon!

I have a Malibu 2 Ocean Kayak...I haven't been on the water in awhile, but eager to get back out there. Is my kayak adequate for the Wed. night paddle or too slow? :)

I would love to join in on the Wednesday night paddles, but I don't own a kayak, is there a rental place nearby that could accommodate.
