Christmas Eve Paddle, Dine & Light-See Trip

RATING - Beginner SK2 (click on link to see rating info), Night Trip, approx 5-8 miles, Slow/Medium Speed

This trip should have flat water, currents up to about 2MPH under some bridges, and may have brisk winds out of the NW.  Dress in synthetics or wool for the weather, and bring windproof clothing in case of immersion.

ENTERTAINMENT & DINING - Christmas Eve isn't the night to show off your rolling prowess, or to barrel along at breakneck speed.  Relax and enjoy the pretty lights & animated creations along the waterfront as you casually make your way to a nice restaurant somewhere up the New River.  After the food and drink, get back in the kayaks and meander back to the launch.  A good time is guaranteed for all who can relax and enjoy!

LOCATION & LAUNCH - This trip launches from the Tennis Center at George English Park (the park at the corner of Sunrise and Bayview Drive, across from the Galleria).  The driveway for the Tennis Center parking is immediately north of the basketball courts.  Meet at 5:30PM for an on-the-water time of 6:15PM.

KAYAK RENTALS - Kayak rentals are not available for this trip.

PARKING - FREE at the Tennis Center launch - don't park in the metered area, there are occasionally break-ins over there.

GEAR - BASICS plus NIGHT TIME GEAR. Please visit the GEAR page link for specifics!

CLOTHING - Dress in synthetics or wool for the weather, and bring windproof clothing in case of immersion.

Attention Christmas Eve Paddlers. We may be docking during the trip and walking a block or two down Las Olas Blvd for dinner before we paddle back. Please bring any change of footwear or clothes if you would feel more comfortable during this part of the trip in a dry bag or at least a plastic bag. Change of clothes or footwear is by no means necessary but I just want to make sure everyone is comfortable if we do end up walking a bit.

Yana, bring any lights you can muster up such as flash lights or lanterns. The more lights the better. You can place lights in zip lock bags to water proof them, and attach them to your boat if you have bungee deck lacing chords or just use duct tape. Jerry may have some extras.
