Paddle Vero Macwilliams Park

Paddle and explore from MacWilliams Park to Sebastian Riverview Park, distance and direction subject to change based on wind and conditions. Estimated paddle length 13 miles. This is not a beginner paddle however if you have done some paddling and wish to test your limits, this would be a good opportunity. Exploration of  some very pretty spoil islands will be included. Be prepared for wind and waves. Please wear your PFD and whistle. Speed demons will be asked to stay with the group. The group will likely relocate to Capt Hirams after paddling for nourishment and libations.

Special Note: As with all of our paddles, we are not guides and we are not instructors. We are a group of kayaking enthusiasts out for a good time. We help each other, learn from each and enjoy the privilege of being.  By participating in any of our paddles you assume all risks and responsibilities for your personal health and safety and for your equipment. It is important for everyone that each participant be prepared for the trip. Please use your discretion and best judgment when joining a trip. Be sure you are up to the paddle -- physically, mentally and that your equipment is appropriate for the intended trip. Know and respect your limits. Be safe and you will certainly enjoy another fantastic paddle. If the trip cancels for any reason (wind over 20mph) , we will do so by 7am Dec 1.

Okay, so I'm out of shape - obviously! We did 17 miles on this trip - in the wind - both ways! I can't move today... and I had an absolutely wonderful time!

Truly a power paddle. Heading into the wind we went north to the Wabasso Bridge for a brief rest, lunch, and facilities use. Since the wind was getting stronger from the north we decided it made more sense to return the almost 9 miles to Vero with the wind at our backs rather than continue north to Sebastian. All was great! No high waves, light wind and sunshine. Then the storm clouds appeared over the ocean and the wind clocked around from the south. Again, we were paddling into the wind. It was very satisfying to accomplish such a long trip with non-stop paddling. Of course the celebration at Riverside Restaurant with good friends was the icing on the cake to a perfect day.
