Save the date! Come out to Oleta River State Park and join members from several other clubs in Miami-Dade, Broward, Collier, Monroe and other parts of Florida for a day of paddling and water fun.

This event is being held for the benefit of Florida Paddling Trails Association. Your minimum of $8 donation will go far to promote paddling opportunities throughout the State of Florida.

About FPTA:
The Florida Paddling Trails Association (FPTA) was formed in October 2007 under the guidance of the Department of Environmental Protection, Office of Greenways & Trails to be the steward for all Florida's water trails, including the Circumnavigational Saltwater Paddling Trail.

FPTA is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization. The FPTA is a state-wide, community of paddlers, clubs, outfitters and other water trail supporters, which has a common purpose of "connecting paddlers to water trails". Our goal is to knit the paddle community together. You might say that we are a Sierra Club for water trails.

The major missions of the FPTA are:

* Develop water trails
* Protect the environment along the trails
* Boost local communities
o Use water trails to help the communities along water trails.
o Build the paddling community

The Plan:
We will launch from the second boat launch inside the park. At least two level of paddles will be offered, a beginners paddle inside the park and a more experienced paddle to Greynold's Park and/or the island of Biscayne Bay. With sufficient interest, an advanced paddle out Haulover Cut will also be offered.

We have an anything that floats other than a boat race planned and a scavenger hunt. Prices will be awarded in all categories.

We will bring charcoal, lighter fluid and ice for drinks.
You bring your beverage of choice and lunch.

More details will be provided as we get closer to the event. This is a great opportunity to mix, mingle and support a great organization dedicate to the paddling community.
