Breakfast and Paddle Cherokee Marsh

I'm offering bacon, eggs, juice and pancakes at my home at 1109 Menomonie Lane, Madison, WI from 9:00am until 10:30am. You will need to walk to the back yard and come into the house from there. After breakfast we may launch kayaks from my back yard into Cherokee Marsh Creek and go for a two hour paddle around the Marsh. Phone number is[masked] and the phone will be on from 8:00 to 11:00am. Or you may choose to launch from the Public Launch off of School Road.

If you do not want breakfast I suggest you launch at School Road Public Launch at 11:00 am.

There is no charge for breakfast (donations accepted). And, if you are a good cook you may help with the festivities. If you want to bring a breakfast item to pass that's OK too. But don't feel like you have to. This is a very informal group.

If you want to launch from my back yard, that's OK but please do not walk on the neighbors yards. We have a driveway on the east side of the house that makes it easy to get into the back yard. If you want to launch from the Public Launch off of School Road then be there at 11:00am.

The Marsh is an easy paddle unless there is a wind so pay attention to the weather forecast for the day.

If poor weather is forecast, I’ll post a cancellation notice early by Sunday morning, no later than 6:00am.

The Madison Kayaking Meetup Group is not an outfitter. We are not insured. We are a group of friends that get together and enjoy the outdoors. Therefore, when you travel with us you do so at your own risk. Your participation is your acceptance of this waiver.

Ron was so generous with the use of his beautiful house! It's a ton of work to host a breakfast for 30 people. Thank you so much Ron... it was a great time.

I think it would be a good idea to do some kind of formal introductions. Several people introduced themselves to me as I did to several, but there were a lot of people that I didn't meet. Just a thought.

I too am not sure I can kayak. I took a hard fall a few days ago and hurt my left knee, left elbow and shoulder pretty good. I don't have the range of motion or strength I would like. I'll keep you updated.

I've injured my shoulder and I'm banned from kayaking for a while. I still want to come finally meet some of you, but can't go out on the water. This frees up a kayak to be loaned out, if anyone is interested! 10' Old Town Loon.

Dan, my house is abut 1/4 mile east of the School Road Launch. Enjoy the paddle.

I'm thinking I'll probably put in at the School Road launch and paddle to your back yard for breakfast. Does that sound doable?

As this is a joint meetup with The Madison Area Outdoors group I'll start posting attendance, offerings, needs, etc. about a week prior to the meetup. Currently we have about 20 signed up so it looks like it will be a large and fun group.

I like kayaking but I don't have a kayak of my own. Where can I rent a Kayak?
