Hey.  Great sounding trip.  What about remembering sunscreen, water, and a snack; and posting the put-in location to help folks coming by various routes, too.  Hope to see y'all there. - Reid

Announcing a new Meetup for Madison Kayaking Meetup Group!

What: April meetup at the Upper Dells

When: Sunday, April 18,[masked]:15 PM

Where: (A location has not been chosen yet.)

Hello Everyone,

Been talking with my friend Jeff about where a good place to kayak is this time of year.
The upper Dells is an absolutely beautiful scenic place to Kayak and Jeff is an excellent tour guide, as well as trained in safety. So following is his notes:

Since this is an early spring trip, the water temps are still cold. Ideally, you should have a wet suit. But if you don't, there are some tips that will help you stay safer in case someone should tip over. (This is flat water, so it probably wont happen, but just in case)

1. Always wear a life jacket when on the water. It will help
with cold shock if you go in.
2. Don't wear anything cotton. Wear wool, or poly pro. It
insulated when wet.
3. Have warm dry clothes along in a bag that will keep them
dry. (in a garbage bag, inside another garbage bag works
too.). You're welcome to use some of my dry hatches, but space
is a little limited.

We will be meeting at 1:15 pm at the Taco Bell parking lot in The Dells, address is
321 Highway 13, Wisconsin Dells, WI 53965. We will be leaving
for the put in at 1:30 pm. Please call if you are running late
so we don't leave you behind: Jeanette[masked]-6777.
We will be on the water for I'd guess 2-3 hours. There are no on site rentals where we will be putting in.
Hope you can make it.
Please watch the weather as well. Just want to make sure everyone will be safe as the water will still be cold.
