Help 50+ children w/ special needs kayak & SUP@ Rye Playland w/ Tommie Cares

Have a blast at this fun-filled day helping 50+ children with special needs kayak, outrigger canoe, SUP, and more at Rye Playland beach. While those with paddling experience are encouraged to come -- it's an opportunity for anyone with a desire to help make a difference. Our volunteers range from middle school kids to retirees. One of the most powerful land-based roles is being a beach buddy - the volunteer or team of volunteers paired with each participant. Buddies help get the kids in their safety gear and take them to each venue, which is staffed by those with water skills. Cheering on & encouraging the children as they do things they never thought possible, buddies forge strong personal connections. We often hear from parents that their children's buddies were the kindest people they've ever met.

The life you change might just be yours ;-)

One bonus of volunteering is that all volunteers get free access to select rides at Rye Playland for the rest of the day until closing after our event.

Best meet up I've ever attended. And I never even went in a kayak. Did get a quick rude in an outrigger canoe though.

Hi... I'm interested in volunteering although I'll have my kids (11, 13 and 15) with me. Will my kids also be able to volunteer? If so, do I need to RSVP each individually? Please advise. Thank you.

Yes, your kids will be able to come and help! They don't need to RSVP individually, but you'll need to sign a volunteer waiver onsite for them. We'll have them available when you check in!
