Disney Fort Wilderness Lagoon! - update

*****we have made our reservations.  when you call to make yours, give them our name and they will link then so that we are in the same "loop" in the campgrounds! ******

This is a short out line, more to be posted later.
Camp at Fort Wilderness,

Saturday:  paddle the lagoon during the early part of the day, then head into Epcot in the evening and attend the Food and Wine Festival in the evening.

Sunday: there are several activities at Fort Wilderness for everyone to enjoy. I am sure there are those that would like to kayak again. I personally will go horseback riding (this requires a reservation) here's the link from Disney.com for all of the activities.
https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/resorts/campsites-at-fort-wilderness-resort/recreation/

the camp sites are $60 per night - 3 tents per site, up to 10 people per site. as a group, I'm sure everyone can coordinate and share sites. the sites for the larger RV's are a bit more but here's the site:
https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/resorts/campsites-at-fort-wilderness-resort/rates-rooms/

I will post additional information at the end of June. Please let me know what questions everyone has and I will get the answers! We may need a "planning meeting" for this one.

for the Food and Wine Festival - you will need to purchase the entry pass. Personally, I'm going with a three day pass. we'll see what deals are going on at that time of the year. Also, there is a charge for each item, usually $3-$6 each. We can discuss options on this later.

Lets have a great Disney time! as usual, and obviously, you can stay as long as you want.

I am sorry about the result of this outing. I was told that we could paddle the lagoon on the phone. due to some family issues, I was unable to go down and check it out in person. I hope all that went had a good time anyway.

Thanks for organizing this excursion anyway, Linda. Even though I had to work during the days, I enjoyed camping and hanging out with the group during the evenings. Hope to see y'all soon.

When I checked in, I was put in 2000 loop and told most everyone else in 1900 look, which is not a problem. Just need to know the place for launch in the morning.
    Thanks,
    Leigh

Sorry, Thought I had responded "yes" already. Have a 3 day pass.

for anyone who was not able to get a site and still want to join us, there are lots of inexpensive hotels in the area. Or if you just want to do the food and wine at Epcot with us. My goal is to be done with the paddle by 2 or 3, then be at Epcot by 4. If you aren't staying at the park, but want to come paddle, I plan on heading over to the launch at 10 am.

Christina - Love the lists! I'm excited too!
I'm taking the day off from work... should be headed out by noon or 1.. Ralph has to work the whole day so he'll catch up with us that evening.

I'm looking for a place to pitch my tent. Is there anyone with room for one more tent? It would be for my wife and I. We would pay our share of the site.

    September 10, 2013

    • Linda

did you get a response? I just checked with the resort and there's only 2 tents per site.

      September 16, 2013

  • vickie

Thanks Christine. I checked out the net & best I could find was $90 for a one day. Will probably just get a pass for Sat. & chill at the pool & on kayak other days. Run strong all week, will be nice to relax.......

  • vickie

Just wanted to let you know a friend was helping me pitch my tent for the first time and he said he has friends that go to the Int'l wine & food festival every year and it's a blast. Even if some don't want to camp, grap a cheap hotel & meet up with us & go. Should be a great time! Would be curious to see how many are just getting a one day pass vs. a 3 day. Also, is there one better place to buy the pass before we go down or should I just pick it up at the gate?? Anyone want to caravan down Friday around lunch time?

    September 10, 2013

    • Christina

Best to buy online. You can find deals.

Is it too late to get in on this adventure? Does anyone have a campsite that I can share - I just have a conversion van and it can park anywhere. Is everyone staying 2 nites?

    September 2, 2013

    • Christina

Thanks linda! Helen you can share half of my tent if you want. Its huge! Just let me know.

I was wondering.. is the kayaking there just around and around in like a small lake or do you paddle from point A to point B and back.. I have camped in Fort wilderiness but cant remember what was available for kayaking...

    August 26, 2013

    • Linda

I really don't know, since this is the first time I'm doing the Kayaking, but I will find out and post it.

      August 26, 2013

  • Linda

okay, I have reserved out site. the sites that are available are called "full hook-up" sites. they have electric and water. the Tent/Pop up sites do not have water/electric. if you make reservations, ask if they can link to mine, so that we are in the same loop.

    looking forward to this one!

  • Christina

Hey linda. How is the campsite booking going? Did you get us squared away?

    June 23, 2013

  • Christina

Running late. On my way there now. Have abt a 30 min drive.

    June 21, 2013

  • Linda

A change to the campsites - I spoke to the Disney vacation "specialists" again, and this time it's two tents to a site. I will try to get a supervisor to confirm what it is.

    June 21, 2013

  • vickie

Thanks Linda / Christina! I'll be there as long as weather permits as I have about an hour drive. Sorry for the delay in responding, been slammed & looking forward to a break and seeing you soon! Vickie

    May 24, 2013

    • Christina

Hey Vickie, sounds great! Plan to come to the planning meeting on the 21st. We can work out the details then. :)

      May 31, 2013

  • Christina

Let's meetup Friday night June 21st at Starbucks on SR210 & I95 around 8pm (That should be a centeral location for everyone). That would give everyone 2 weeks to get their ducks in a row, and allow us enough time to book the trip before the summer rates hit us. We will book our trip and make arrangements that night, so come prepared with cash/visa. Linda and I estimated about $300 total, just to give you an idea. sound good?

    May 29, 2013

    • Linda

sounds great. if you need to book the camp site and then wait for another payday for the park tickets, that's fine too.

      May 30, 2013

    • Christina

Linda can you send out an email to all who have RSVP so far with the meeting information? Just in case they are not checking the site. THanks! See ya on the 21st.

      May 31, 2013

  • Christina

I would love to book a campsite, I need two people to camp with me to split the cost... any takers?

    May 21, 2013

    • Christina

That's odd. Linda lets set up a day to meet to plan this one. Maybe we can meet for dinner one afternoon. We can network and make arrangements then. We can make one call and pass the phone round for everyone to book/pay :) I think that would be the easiest way.

      May 23, 2013

    • Linda

so do I. when do you propose to meet?

      May 23, 2013

  • Mike M.

I have a conflict with the MS 150 on the new weekend date and won't be able to attend

    May 21, 2013

  • Linda

Love this trip! Unfortunately it's the same weekend as magfest :-(

    May 19, 2013

    • Linda

maybe with the date change you can make it!

      May 21, 2013

  • Leigh W.

I just spoke with Disney reservations and there are no camp sites available the 18th -20th.

    May 20, 2013

    • Linda

hmmm, okay I'll get with them and find out the availability. thanks Leigh!

      May 21, 2013

    • Linda

Leigh - I revamped the date for the availability. according to the web site today - there are plenty of sites available for the last weekend in September.
