Cumberland Island Kayak and Camp

Paddling to Cumberland Island from Dee Dee Bartles Boat Ramp on Sunday, December 22nd. Staying at Sea Camp on Sunday night. Exploring the island on Monday and returning to Fernandina on Tuesday, December 24th. I have one site reserved at Sea Camp. Three tents maximum. Additional sites may be available. The inlet can be dangerous with swift currents, large swells and boat traffic. Paddlers need to have proper gear and be experienced in self and assisted recovery.

How safe are the vehicles at the public ramp for 3 days?

I drive a Chevy suburban and leave it with a tank close to empty. It's not worth stealing if you have to fill it up!

Lol. I need to get an old beater vehicle just for these type trips...

Plan this again when there's no football games and the weather is warmer. Sounds like an awesome adventure.

I may do it again but it would be during the winter. The bugs can be bad during warmer months and tent camping can be miserable when it's hot.
