Ft. George Island > Huguenot Beach

Ft. George River has one of the most diverse eco systems around! Here there is everything from turquoise water and beautiful white sand bars to salt marsh creeks and spoil islands. We will paddle through the Timucuan Preserve estuary with thousands of acres of tributaries that wind through the marsh, creating what looks like the arteries of the land. As the water twists and turns, it creates intimate canals for the resident wading birds and fishing osprey, providing protection for newly hatched fingerlings. This fascinating environment is the lifeblood of the ocean and the nursery ground for most of the life in the sea. Along the tour we will stop to snack and swim on one of the many beautiful shallow sand bars.

I'm confused, can someone please give directions from 9A & Hecksher Drive? I've never paddled there and I'd hate to waste time getting lost when I should be getting kayak ready to launch.

Get off 9A at the Hecksher Dr exit and head east..go over the Sister's Creek Bridge and look up to see an Osprey nest over the signal light..they have hatchlings now..continue on and go past the Ferry and Sandollar restaurant and a Marina on the right..turn left at the sign for Kingsley plantation on Ft George Road..Ribault Club will be ahead on the right, should be a sign.

Is this a one direction paddle? Or do we return where we started?

    • Joe C.

No..This trip is launching from the Ribault Club home, which is down the road from Kingsley.

    • Joe C.

Hey Vickie, the tandems have already been rented out for this trip, but I do have single still available. This is a very simple trip!

I'm chomping at the bit to go yaking & this sounds like a beautiful paddle! I enjoy more narrow waterways with wildlife, and this should be a fun area to explore. Will attempt to take Friday off work but may bow out Thursday night if I get overloaded. Hope to see you there!
