Palmento Leaves Park to Clarks Fish Camp!

this park has a nice put-in facility across from Kohls on St Augustine Rd in the Bartram area. (Pretty much just a parking lot and a floating dock). It winds along the southern portion of Julington Creek. There are only a few residences that you pass, and very light boat traffic as there are quite a few submerged trees.  This would be a great beginners paddle.  This is a great paddle and is close to home for most of us. Lets meet at the ramp at 10:30 am to get this one started. That will allow for everyone to sleep a little in the am, and then get a nice paddle in by noon.

for those that do not want to paddle, just meet us at Clarks around noonish.  12903 Hood Landing Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32258

What to bring:

Kayak, Paddle (not kidding, people do forget this)

PDF, whistle

Water

Bug repellant

Camera

Clarks fish camp was a trip, talked to the owner and she collected those fish dishes one at a time at antique shops and cost about 100 to 200 a piece...wow;the giraffe came from the Tampa Zoo after it broke its leg and passed...I bet each animal has its own tail,I mean tale ;)

Yes, Chris helped alot of us out.. thanks Chris. Next time we need a head count and more drivers for the shuttle., but if it wasn't your direction I don't think things would have run as smoothly.
Also Linda and Ralph as always are a strong force in this meet-up..Everything ran smoothly, too. Thanks Ralph and Linda..

Hey Ralph and Linda, thanks for an ahhhsome paddle and a great time!!! This was my first time on this type of waterway and was very cool with lots of scenery. I was hoping to see a gator, from a far distance of course and I did, at Clark's fish camp which was my first time ever being there too, very cool. As many other I didn't make it into my truck until it was too late, got soaked by the rain but it definitely cooled me off and me and my yak I got a good rinsing. Enjoined it! Until we eat again!

FYI... This is only here-say but, a paddling buddy of mine went up Julington Creek last week & encountered deadfall upstream near the bridge (during low tide) that a boat could not get over. Might want to check it out before launching a while group...

I paddled Julington on Tuesday from Clarks at low tide. I ran into a tree across the river not too far from the brdige at the planned launch for Sunday. Somebody should check the tides and the tree and make sure you can get around it or it will be a very short paddle! If you can't get through, putting in at Clark's would still make for a lovely paddle.

Hi,I am new to the group...I would like to paddle to Clarks, then back and skip the lunch.Company coming in from out of town,so I will have to cut the trip alittle short.Looking forward to the paddle:)

I'm thinking of towing the trailer and shuttling so we can paddle one way, then load up and leave after a meal / drink at Clarks. I have four canoes and four kayaks on it now. Who doesn't have a boat and would like to borrow one of mine?

    July 30, 2012

    • Metta

I'm up for the shuttle idea too, I have a hobie SUV !!

      August 7, 2012

    • Chris G.

I'm asking people who are paddling one-way only and shuttling with me to arrive at Palmetto at 9:45. We can shuttle our cars to Clarks and be back with plenty of time to launch with the group. There is no boat ramp. We put in from a small floating dock so it will take a little while to get everyone on the water.

      August 8, 2012

  • Linda

this is to clearify what this paddle is doing. We are paddling from Palmetto Leaves Park to Clarks, after lunch, we will paddle back to the park.

    Metta:
a few people are only paddling one way - to Clarks. anyone is welcome to join them. the rest of us will head back to the park.

I've never ordered the prime rib, on the mushrooms stuffed with prime rib bits.

    August 8, 2012

  • Metta

Does prime rib come on a bone?

    August 8, 2012

  • Metta

As normal I'm confused...I would rather paddle back....I didn't realize people were doing that

    August 8, 2012

  • Metta

Sissy - you best change that maybe to a yes...you know you want more practice on that floating dock!

    August 7, 2012

  • griffin

Anyone know how long this paddle is? Which way is with the current?

    August 3, 2012

    • Chris G.
