Discussion Topics for August 12 meeting & Changes for September

Group Organizer
Kansas City, MO
Just a note about the next Humanist Study Group meeting!
We have been reading The Bonobo and the Atheist by Frans de Waal, but we did not discuss the last chapter (8, "Bottom-Up Morality"), so we will spend some time discussing that chapter.
In addition Don Bell has volunteered to discuss a couple of articles that are available on the Council for Secular Humanism web site, so I wanted to send the links to you.  One article is by P.Z. Myers and is entitled "The Need for Confrontation".  The link is http://www.secularhum... .  The second article is by Ronald Lindsay and is entitled "Freedom of Thought".  The link is http://www.secularhum... .
If for some reason the links do not work, just search the Council for Secular Humanism web site by title of the article.  You will get a list of articles and they are a little way down the list.
One other heads up!  I organize free thought meetings every Monday of each month.  Since Labor Day is on the first Monday of September, September always creates a problem every year.  Luckily, this year, there are five Mondays in September, so I am going to move all the meetings one Monday down the calendar.  So, the Humanism group will meet on September 16 and 30 in September.
I hope to see you at the next meeting!  And, thanks for your interest!
