From an organizer of CityCampKC, passing it along to anyone that's interested.
The date is April 28th. -- Wes

Greetings guys,

Thought some of the civic-minded members of your group might be
interested to learn about an upcoming event with Ruby tie-ins.

The event is CityCampKC - http://citycampkc... - a day long
unconference focusing on civic life and technology. One major part of
the event is a hackathon, which is being done on behalf of Bike Walk
KC, the non-profit bike & pedestrian advocacy group serving our metro.

Recently, a group of open source civic software builders reached out
to us to suggest we use Shareabouts, a beautifully written RoR app
that does quite a bit of what the Bike Walk app would need to do. We
reached out to Ryan Smith for some guidance, and he managed to
convince Heroku to fly him back to KC to pilot the hackathon. They are
generously shipping him in and we are hoping they might throw in some
of their world class platform usage for a few years for the app,
although that is TBD.

So it's shaping up to be a pretty amazing event, though it's quite
certain the more Ruby talent in the room at the hackathon, the more
successful the outcome will be. Will you please consider sharing the
event with your group? To encourage members of your group to attend,
please find a discount code for your group, good for $10 off the $25
ticket price:

code: KCRuby

We also welcome any guidance or participation your members want to
bring to the table. The event's going to be a blast and the app will
do a world of good for our region's health so we hope to see as many
members of the Ruby community as possible.

Thank you guys, please be in touch if you have any questions or concerns.
