Having put together an intro to Node.js, I'd certainly be willing to help with organization. Except for the day of, of course... seeing as though I'd like to learn that day :D

I'd be interested and know a couple of others who might be as well.
An upcoming conference I'm going to is hosting a install-fest/workshop based on the Railsbridge curriculum - just another suggestion: http://workshops.railsbridge.org/resources-for-students/

@tom None yet. Just gauging interest at the moment. I really don't want to even hazard a guess on timelines.

Thanks, Bryan. I wrote Michael this morning since he was organizing the iPhone class (The Disruption Institute), but he really didn't know if this sort of class would be well received or not.

Based on the feedback I've received so far, I'm pretty encouraged. If I charge anything, it will only be for a seat placeholder and then for printing/binding the courseware.

I really appreciate everyone's feedback so far. Keep it coming, please.

Sam,

You already know I'd be all over this! I would gladly pay for this class, but I would also be thrilled to help you create and develop the course materials as well.

As a final suggestion, you may want to reach out to Michael Gelphman at KCITP and what he's doing with http://disruptioninstitute.com/ - - you may not be at that level (...yet), but as we have discussed before this method of teaching/learning can be very rewarding for all.

Do it! Even better, bring thestarterleague here from Chicago! (aka Code Academy funded by 37signals)

I'm a .net guy and would love to learn Ruby but haven't had the time, just a peripheral interest joining this group...

Hey, KCRuby people and others,

I ran out of my medication a couple days ago, which has caused me to think some very strange thoughts. What follows is one of them...

I am considering designing and teaching an "Intro to Web Development with Ruby on Rails" class. It will be a one-day class to get non-rails developers up and running. It will cover bundler, MVC, some OO concepts, maybe deployment, routing, active record, asset pipeline, etc. I would offer the class for free for the first couple of runs (I think).

There'll be some prereqs: HTML, CSS, maybe some programming experience (haven't decided), etc.

This will be a fairly large undertaking for me which is why I'm gauging interest. I'll need to create the curriculum and everything that involves. My wife can help with some of the instructional design, but the rest would be on my shoulders.

What I need to know from the community is this? Would this be a class you would be interested in? Do you know someone who would be interested in this class?

Nothing's set in stone. Like I said, this is medicationless ramblings. But seriously, I would like to know your thoughts.

Thanks,
Samuel
