How can we bridge the gap between our deepest realization and "everyday life"? How can we live a spiritual life in New York City? How do we engage with others from that deepest place we discover in meditation? What is the world we want to create? These are some of the questions that interest us as spiritual practitioners, and that we engage with through the practice of Evolutionary Enlightenment.

Evolutionary Enlightenment is a spiritual path developed by Andrew Cohen over the past 25 years through work with his students. After his awakening in 1986 at the feet of Punjaji, Andrew began to teach and through his work with his students has developed a spiritual teaching and philosophy that is culturally relevant to the Western world in the 21st Century. This philosophy is laid out in his recently published book "Evolutionary Enlightenment."

Andrew Cohen's thinking has been influenced by many great evolutionary thinkers including Sri Aurobindo, Teilhard de Chardin and others, but none more than his good friend and colleague Ken Wilber (Andrew dedicated this book to Ken Wilber). Ken's work has helped shape Andrew's understanding of his own work with his students, and contextualized the spiritual practices of Evolutionary Enlightenment in an integral framework.

In this presentation we will give a brief overview of Evolutionary Enlightenment then speak about the practices we do as practitioners of this spiritual path and how they fall in the four quadrants. We will describe how these practices take form in our lives here in New York City, what challenges we've encountered by taking a stand for living our spiritual values, and the emerging culture between us that is a result of our practices. There will be time for Q&A at the end.

Ronnit Bendavid-Val met Andrew Cohen in 2002 after studying with another spiritual teacher for 8 years, and immediately recognized the potential of his Teachings. She has been a student of Andrew for 9 ½ years, is one of the founders of the current EnlightenNext New York Center and also a mentor and liaison with EnlightenNext groups in other cities. In addition to being on the leadership team running the Center, she works for the NYC Parks Department as the Director of Horticulture.

Jason Di Tullio Studied and taught Concept-Therapy seminars from 1998 -2001. He then met Andrew Cohen in 2001 and became a student of Andrew's shortly thereafter. He has been a practitioner of Evolutionary Enlightenment for over 10 years and is one of the founders of the current EnlightenNext New York Center. In addition to being on the leadership team and running the Center he develops educational programs for EnlightenNext NY. Jason is also the owner of Alignment Chiropractic NYC and has been in practice for over 13 years. He is currently launching a meditation practice and discussion forum for health practitioners that explores the relationship between Spirit and healing.
