KPLUG Monthly Meeting

Tracy Reed is a Senior Security Engineer for a San Diego based company and long-time Linux user and privacy enthusiast.

He'll be talking about "TAILS: The Amnesiac Incognito Live System", a privacy and anonymity minded Linux distribution designed to help you maintain your privacy on the net.

TAILS is easy to use and install consisting of a LiveCD and software pre-configured and security-hardened to help you browse the web and the dark web.

TAILS can help you:

- Use the Internet anonymously and circumvent censorship; all connections to the Internet are forced to go through the Tor network;

- Leave no trace on the computer you are using unless you ask it explicitly; - Use state-of-the-art cryptographic tools to encrypt your files, emails and instant messaging.

    I sure hope someone brings a displayport->VGA adaptor because I've only got a Mac and the projector here only has VGA and I never remember to buy one. So, could someone please bring one for me to use for the presentation? Thanks!

    How come I'm not getting email notifications any more?

      No idea. Is it going to your spam folder? I've been getting notifications.

    So this is only for the hardcore coders who get into the kernel, or open to people who just like making ubuntu work cool? I have worked some with CentOS at a job and have been studying for the LPIC.

      This is definitely for people who like making Ubuntu work cool. We actually don't do any kernel programming at all really. It's all about making Linux work well and having fun with it.
