KPLUG Monthly Meeting

Video surveillance for home and office with ZoneMinder

Replace an expensive surveillance system with ZoneMinder and a few cheap network cameras.

We used ZoneMinder at UCSD Computer Science and Engineering building to provide video surveillance with motion detection and auto recording. Peter will go over the setup that included 50+ network cameras and two servers.

For this talk Peter will have a server (VM on his laptop) with ZoneMinder and he'll demonstrate adding a network camera, basic configuration and basic features of the software.

Attend the meeting and learn how to enhance your home security by adding video surveillance for just a few dollars. It is easy. Dust off this old server in the garage, install ZoneMinder, and bring it back to life.

We'll do all the steps at the meeting. See you there.

Peter Blajev has been working in terminal sessions for long enough that his 2 yr. old daughter is now teaching him how to use the mouse. She already gave up on teaching Peter how to use the iPad. On days when he isn't the one turning off the lights and locking the office for the day, Peter likes to drag his family out in the wilderness and try to convince them it's more fun then staying home watching "Two And A Half Men".

I attended your presentation on ZoneMinder in CentOS 6.5 last july 10th. I'm interested to play around with this Software. What's the URL to install this in CentOS 6.5 or do you mind sending a PDF file version of the dependencies to me at [masked]? Thanks.

You might want to go to
http://www.kernel-pan... and sign up for the
KPLUG-list where the conversation is taking place. Here's what Peter
posted in an email to that list.

"Here are my quick and dirty instructions:

Copy/Paste should work for most parts.

      Hope it helps."
