Our second is now well under way. New players are welcome to play at any time during the series. If you want to be a regular, let me know. As a regular, you are automatically registered for my tournament and do not need to separately RSVP. My main goal associated with our tournaments and cash games is that I want to provide a legal, safe, honest, fair and fun place for poker players to enjoy our “sport”. There will never be a rake to benefit the house or any one player and everyone will show respect for others and the way they decide to play their cards. Anyone caught cheating or showing disrespect for others will be banned from my house. Having said that, here are the key points regarding the tournaments for all to consider:
Saturday Night Tournaments
•The tournaments will remain on Saturdays and will start at 7pm. We usually will have tournaments on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month, with some rare exceptions.
Please follow parking guidelines to help my neighbors navigate through the neighborhood easier. Carpooling is preferred; if you do drive alone, make sure that you park on my side of the street or use one of the side streets.
•The buy in is $50 with $40 going to the payout each Saturday. If we have 50 players the weekly payout will be $2,000 and 1 in 9 will pay out. So with 36 players, 4 will be paid, and 37-45 players would pay out 5, and 46-54 would pay put 6. Final table chops are OK, provided that all remaining players agree with the terms.
•There will be two 13 week TOC's funded by $10 from the $50 buy in. There will not be a WSOP seat or WSOP freeroll this year, so the entire $10 will go to fund the TOC freeroll. If we average 50 players for each tourney, the prize pool for the TOC freeroll will be over $6100 (see below).
•The tournaments and cash games will be No Limit Texas Holdem. We will use Roberts rules at all times to settle disagreements or issues. The house (me) reserves the right to make the final decision on all disputes. I do not like house rules so I will do my best to run our games like a Casino.
•The starting chips will be 20,000 and you will get an additional 5,000 in chips for showing up on time at 7pm. You may have someone pay for you prior to 7pm and you will still get your extra chips. If you sign up (via RSVP or as a regular) and are not in the building on time without notifying me or having someone pay for you, your seat will go to any alternate present and you will be moved to the alternate list.
•I will take up to 60 players and will take an additional 5 alternates. If the alternate is on time and someone who has registered to play and has not prepaid is not there by 7 PM, then the alternate will get the seat. Alternates still get 25,000 chips as long as they arrive before 7 PM.
•Antes will not be in the tournaments this year as the poll I took overwhelmingly asked to have them removed.
Tournament of Champions (TOC)
•There will be two 13 week TOC’s (Tournament of Champions). The first TOC will start on 6/16/12 and run for 13 weeks thru 12/08/12. The 2nd TOC will start on 01/12/2013 and run thru 7/13/2013.
•The top 28 point leaders will play in a free roll at the end of the 13 weeks for the pot. We will use a maximum of 12 weeks for the points and they will be your best 12 weeks if you play more than 12. Points obtained during the 13 weeks will help determine your starting chip stack in the freeroll, similar to last year's TOC.
◦A WSOP point chart will be used. Minimum points will be 10 with points going up like a bell curve the closer you get to the final table.
◦The points leader for each 13 week series will be awarded $200. This money will be taken from the TOC prize pool
◦In addition, there will be $125 taken off the TOC prize pool for each 13 week block (for a total of $250) to award to the overall points leader for the year.
◦The TOC date for the first series will be 12-15-12.
◦If we have an average of 50 people per week for 13 weeks, each TOC prize pool will be (50 x 13 x 10) - 125-200 or $6175. We averaged significantly over 50 players for the last TOC, making the prize pool for the free roll (after all deductions) at $6700.
◦TOC payouts will be as follows: 1st place 50%, 2nd place 25%, 3rd place 15%, 4th place 10%. Final table chops are OK, provided that all remaining players agree with the terms.
◦The TOC pool will pay for our web site which is approx $72 for 6 months (1 payment out of each TOC) and to replace poker supplies (i.e., playing cards, chairs, broken lamps, resurfacing poker tables, etc.).
•There will be a cash game starting at 330 pm for those who want to play cash before the tournament.
•We will also have a cash game after the tournament as a table is freed up.
•I need volunteers to be the cash game banker each week. I will not be running any of the cash games so if we have no volunteers there will be no cash game.
•There will be a group of regulars (between 20 and 30) each week that will automatically be signed up and have a seat in the tournament. If you were a regular before with Len, you are not automatically a regular with me. If you wish to be one, let me know and I will put you on my list.
•As a regular, you do not have to RSVP on the web site each week. I will RSVP for the regulars in my count.
•If you are a regular you must let me know in advance when you cannot play so an RSVP from the web site can get a seat.
•As a regular if you do not show up for a tournament 2 times you will be taken off the regular list and will have to RSVP via the web site to get in the tournament.
•If you want a regular seat each week and you are willing to abide by the rules above, just let me know and I will add you to the list.
