What makes Kickstands Up (KU) different from other Motorcycle Meet up Groups? Simply put, KU is not a motorcycle club rather people who enjoy riding when time permits as lone wolves or with other motorcycle enthusiasts. No Commitments, Dues, KU Vests, Mandatory meetings, pledging/prospects, Bike wash or Bike post-ups. KU riders are more interested in keeping their kickstands up than down. So, if this is you, WELCOME! There is no need to RSVP "NO" to any event; Just RSVP "YES" to events that interest you; that will fit your schedule. This will help to determine the total number of participants for reservations & the ride. If you are a new rider, Don't Fret! just RSVP & join in. You will see KU riders immediately welcome you an take you under their wing to ensure you are safe & have an enjoyable riding experience. We have rode through D.C., Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, South Carolina, Florida, Georgia as well as, Canada.
We have recently noticed other motorcycle meet up groups copying this description and even some of our events. Well, Charles Caleb Colton said, "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery".We hope these meetup groups begin having safety practice rides & bike maintenance events like us for free as well. Why do so many KU riders volunteer, lead rides & even suggest some of the events? You'd have to ask them yourself.
Kickstands Up Only RIDING RULES (for the safety of you & other riders)
DRINKING-People who have consumed relatively moderate amounts of alcohol experience reduced peripheral vision, and are less likely to perceive or recognize objects and signals outside the central visual field. It takes 1 hour for (1) 12 oz beer, 1.5 oz liquor or, a glass of wine to . YOU May be an experienced rider however, WE are riding together and your judgement to react or NOT REACT in a crisis will impact other riders. So, we ask that NO KU rider when on their motorcycle, drink any alcohol during a KU event. Thank you.
We welcome all types of motorcycles (touring, sport and cruisers).
COSTS: There may be small costs associated with tolls, ferry and meals. But the thrill of being on a two-wheeled machine out in the open is priceless!
Note: If your MC family has not scheduled rides on dates we are riding, feel free to join us on that day. So far, we have had up to 40 bikes on one riding event; the St. Michaels, MD Ferry Ride.
Check out the "DISCUSSION" area for very useful information and items for sale by other riders.
I look forward to meeting you on a ride soon.
