It helps the lead to know the riding experience level of all riders. It helps when planning routes too. So, how many years have you been riding?
KU Riders have all types of bikes. All are welcome even, 278-cc scooters that can go 80+mph. So, what type of bike do you ride? Is it new or have you rode this particular bike for a while?
2007 Yamaha FZ6
KU Riders are offered Practice riding events. To freshen up their manuever & avoidance skills. Everyone can ride straight but in a crisis they fail to avoid. Are you a Novice, beginner, weekend, everyday, fair weather, whenever I can Rider?
KU is not a club/MC So, to ensure you enjoy your time with us, what do you look for when riding with a group of like minded riders as yourself? Do prefer Saturdays? Sundays? Do you like overnight riding events?
What makes Kickstands Up (KU) different from other Motorcycle Meet up Groups?New Rider Francois said it best. "Out of all of the groups I just joined, yours is the most active. Congrats! " Don't want no Drama just fun! Check us out. We've rode on over 400+ events and 46 events have already been suggested for 2016. Simply put, KU is a group of like minded mature respectable people of all ages who have one thing in common; WE ENJOY RIDING when time permits. No Commitments, no Vests/colors, no mandatory meetings, pledging/prospecting. Riders step up and fill in where needed. Our only rules is practice safe riding and respect for one another. Some riders volunteer to lead rides and even help those homeless in the DC area once a month.
Those who connect with KU, are more interested in keeping their kickstands up than down. You are WELCOME to meetup and ride with us. Just RSVP "YES" to only those events that interest you. Your RSVP will help the leader plan the ride according to the # of riders.
New Riders? If you are new to riding Don't Fret! you are welcome too. KU riders will welcome you and take you under their wing to ensure you too are are safe & have an enjoyable riding experience.
We have recently noticed other motorcycle meet up groups copying our description and even some of our events. Well,Charles Caleb Colton said, "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery". We are flattered.
WHY THE $20.00 MEMBERSHIP PAYMENT? Although some riding groups do not require monies for their site or events, they still incur costs. These costs may be offset by Corporate sponsors and/or motorcycle club monthly dues from members. We do not have either. One of our newer members explained it best. Your $20.00 cover:
1. Costs to maintain this site
2. Planning and preparation for group rides
3. Scheduling and hosting rides & other community events
4. Group communications in short, lots of individual efforts and out-of-pocket costs are incurred to make Kickstands Up an enjoyable group to ride and hang out with.
While $20.00 does not really begin to cover a lot of these costs (trust us, it doesn't), it does help to ensure that Kickstands Up remains a riding group that is more about the fellowship and collective ride experiences than about large membership numbers. Need more reasons?
If you ride mostly solo, like most of us, you'll not be alone. You'll have reasons to ride with others to places you've maybe not discovered. Priceless! If you're a semi-serious rider, you've already spent $100.00 easily during the riding season. So, please. Don't go there. :)
