February Dinner Out at Woodlands Indian Restaurant

This is the restaurant formally known as Taj. They are under new ownership and have completely revamped and expanded their menu, which now includes many vegan options (see link below). Diane and I had dinner there recently and were very impressed. The owner was very accommodating an is looking forward to hosting us.

Here is a link to an online menu:

Much socializing among a very lively group of vegans. Nice people. Good food. Nice restaurant. Thank you, Kevin, for organizing this outing. Looking forward to the next one.

Since it's a Friday there's a better than even chance I MIGHT be off, but new schedules, alas, have not yet been posted. Sorry to hear the former owners threw in the towel; I like the lady that owned it. But these photos make me hungry. I can always hope for more Southern Indian food (I seem to have a thing for southern cooking).

Didn't realized I'd already commented and am now repeating myself. Sorry.

Sorry; have to work. I regret it as I love GOOD Indian food, and enjoyed Taj and its previous owner. I hope the new owners build upon what has been begun there and, hope against hope, offer more SOUTHERN Indian dishes.

I would not be able to make it. But highly recommend
the Dosas - They have a Dosa Night every tuesday with menu prices half off ....I would be skeptical of the much touted vegan options for most of the indian dishes do use butter / ghee..... But enjoy and hope you all have a enjoyable, gastronomical friday night !!!!

Kevin, please put my name on the letter that you have outlined in a recent meeting.........

In my experience, Indian cuisine is not typically vegan friendly. I asked the owner of the last indian restaurant I visited if her food was vegan. She replied that the first ingredient in all her dishes was clarified butter. I don't know if Woodlands' practices are different, but I would be willing to bet they're pretty liberal with the ghee.

The owner is very informed about vegan diets. He went through the entire menu with me and indicated which dishes were vegan. It amounted to more than half the menu. This could be the "most vegan friendly" restaurant in Knoxville.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
