Are you currently a vegan, working toward becoming a vegan, or interested in veganism?

I made a commitment to veganism about 4 1/2 years ago after watching a short film from Mercy For Animals titled "From Farm to Fridge."

Which Knoxville restaurants would you like to meet at?

A week in Denver, Co experiencing fully vegan restaurants was divine. There were no such places in Knoxville until the opening of the amazing and awesome Sanctuary Vegan Cafe, but options in regular restaurants are improving. Best guesses, places I have tried, where there are at least a few options: Gosh Ethiopian Restaurant, Sunspot, Tomato Head, and Mellow Mushroom (love the Thai Dye pizza veganized) There was a lovely little vegetarian restaurant in Greenville called Plum Tasty that has unfortunately closed.

Are you interested in participating in potluck suppers?

Occasionally.

What would you like to gain from participating in this group?

I want to meet and socialize with like minded individuals and hope to get involved in and grow the vegan activism movement in Knoxville. I recently cofounded Knoxville Farmed Animal Save (https://www.facebook.com/knoxfarmedanimalsave/), a local chapter of the Save Movement Worldwide Network, which seeks to promote awareness of animal suffering and the compassionate vegan lifestyle alternative by holding vigils at slaughterhouses and other locations and sharing these actions on social media.

Introduction

Hi, I'm Sue, I moved from Ohio back in 2000 and made the decision to go vegan on 12/17/2010. I lived in Sevier County for almost 15 years before moving to Knoxville in 2015. I'm interested in activism and a cofounder of Knoxville Farmed Animal Save.
