NEW "VEGGIE" EVENTS

IN KNOXVILLE

You are invited to participate in a new online forum for Knoxville-area vegans and vegetarians called East Tennessee VeggieBoard. The number of events and activities in our area has been growing dramatically. The main purpose of this forum will be to serve as a one-stop bulletin board for all of our events. The topics will include (but are not limited to)
- the health benefits of a plant-based diet
- techniques and ingredients for vegan/vegetarian cooking
- compassion for animals
- local organic foods
I have set it as a Facebook group because many of us are already on Facebook and it has an easy, useful, and attractive events feature. My goal is for this to be a mutually supportive and non competitive forum. The more participants we have, the more effective this will be. Any member of the group may post events and all members will see all postings. You will be able to share all events with Facebook friends. The link for the group is:
http://www.facebook.com/groups/463444217047086/

If you are not on Facebook, don't worry. It's easy to set up an account and no, you don't have to share a lot of personal information or use its many different features. Just go to Facebook.com, set up a new account, then go to the link above. If you have questions or difficulty, please send me an email.
Let’s start out 2013 by pledging to communicate, network together, and support one another as much as possible!

January 20, 2013

Kick off 2013 by learning tips for losing weight and maintaining a healthy balance at our monthly supper club meeting.  We'll eat a healthy, plant-based (vegan) dinner, see live cooking demonstrations, and hear about healthy weight loss tips by Dr. Judy Sloan.
There is no fee but donations will be accepted on site.

Judy Sloan, Ph.D., is a professor at Southern Adventist University in Collegedale, TN.  Dr. Sloan's professional experience includes teaching physical education in K-12 grades and teaching health and wellness at the university level.  She speaks on a wide variety of topics, including: nutrition, fitness, financial health, stress management and values decision making.
