I hope to see all of you next Sunday, Nov. 24, 6 PM at our annual Vegetarian Thanksgiving Potluck Supper (and celebration!). It will take place at the First Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 3611 Kingston Pike, which is less than a mile west of our usual meeting spot, the UU church. Cost $5 per person plus a dish to feed 8 to 10 persons.

Two more reasons to attend: Allen McBride will enchant us with his hammered dulcimer playing, and Rita's on Market Square will "set up shop" and dispense some delicious non-dairy Italian ices, thanks to benefactor and MC Viren Lalka.

Here are some important notes and needs.

1. SET UP AT 2:30 OR SO. If you plan to be one of the "early birds" I need to know again who you are and your phone number, as the time could change, or I might need you to pick something up from my house a few blocks away, etc. Please write or call me at 546-5643.

2. DECORATE THE STAGE. Can you do this with greenery, live plants, fabric?

3. BAKE SALE. We have one person only committed to donating baked goods. Need more baked goods; this could be a delicious way for us to make money.

4. DOOR PRIZES. We have only two donated door prizes right now. Need more items to entice folks our way.

5. FASCINATING RUMMAGE ITEMS. Only one person so far has volunteered to donate a rummage item. In the past this booth has made us over $100. Thanks to Roscoe Philips for agreeing to oversee this booth.

6. BRING POTTED FLOWERS AND LIVE PLANTS. The gym we are using is light and lovely but needs to be refreshed with flowers, ferns, and potted plants. Can you donate potted flowers (or bring and let us reimburse you), or loan large or medium sized potted plants?

7. ENTRANCE WAY. Can you bring a bale of hay (or half a bale) and some pumpkins and create a welcoming entrance outside the entry door so people know which door to come in?

8. SIGN ON THE STREET. I need someone to post a sign on Kingston Pike earlier that day announcing the event, and hang some balloons on the sign by 5 PM.

9. PLEASE JOIN OUR SOCIETY. We are several 100 dollars in the hole because president Bob is a big spender.  We need at least 25 people to pay their dues that night so that we can regain financial health. This event alone will cost us almost $500. We could use some semi-major donations, like $50 or $100 to end the year in the black.

If you can help in anyway, please let us know soon!

Thank you,
Bob Grimac, tel. [masked]
