Explore White Oak House

  • Bob Ferguson's house - White Oak

Bob Ferguson joined our group in April and would like to host a meetup at his house with tea and BBQ! His house is called White Oak and is between Clinton and Oak Ridge on Old Emory Road.

He describes a picturesque house - there have been weddings on the front porch, mountain and water views, beautiful chandeliers, elegant furnishings and a grand piano. The house was owned by Jane Marquis who was quite well known in the Anderson area. We may need to meet somewhere - it's close to Melton Lake Road off Edgemoor - and carpool there, although Bob thinks we can possibly park close by in a field...

Bob will have some pictures from his trip to Alaska, too.

I love the variety & quality of different viewpoints of the same house. Some very artistic images.

One of the most generous of hosts who has a most amazing home! Looks like it just stepped off the pages of Architectural Digest but feels so homey which I am sure is due to its owner Bob! Thank you so much for allowing us to ferret around in your home snapping all kinds of pics and feeding us ( and my family..still eating and there is still some left) :) Great time with some of the most wonderful generous down to earth folks anywhere! Always have a blast with my KPG peeps!

I had a wonderful time and captured some pictures I really like. As I left, I noticed how dark it is. We could have made some great meteor shower pictures there!
    Thank you Bob!

Thanks Patty for the great shots! I especially loved the piano keyboard shot. Also, the rose, and the shaded statue in the faded background. This brought back a lot of memories. Again, thank you so much.

If it is okay, my father may be coming with me. I had asked him a while ago and thought he wouldn't be able to attend. He has been recovering from a ruptured intestine. He is feeling better, finished rehab and he really wants to see the house.
He can have my share of the food. I am gluten free and probably couldn't eat some of it anyway.:)

Sorry I won't be able to attend. We are super busy at work .. I don't see the sun come up anymore and I'm just now getting home from work now... Hopefully when work slows down this fall I'll be able to do more! Right now I'm working 6 am to 6 to 7 or 8 pm.

I'm going to hold off with my RSVP until later in the week but I am hoping to join you if my family situation permits. Frankly, I could use an escape with my camera and I'd love to see Bob's beautiful home.

Please RSVP or update if you can't attend by Thursday! Bob needs an accurate count to order refreshments! *note - if you'd like to donate to help cover his cost (not mandatory or requested by Bob) we could have a tip jar at the house.

Just one change. Talked to Ann and we decided to change the date to Friday August 22, at 6:00pm. That way it won't conflict with the one on the 14th by having it too close together. Hopefully this will work for everyone and not be too confusing. Thanks!

Back from Alaska and it was an absolutely wonderful experience, as the pictures I plan to show, will prove. The date for the meet up is set at for Aug 15th, at 6:00, if that is good with everyone else. The address is 816 Old Emory Rd. Clinton, 37716. I look forward to having everyone, and like I said before, the BBQ, tea and coffee is on me. Any other drinks you wish, you are welcome to bring. See you then!

Hey Guys, I'm excited to have everyone visit in August. The house doesn't lack for room, so please feel free to attend. I bought it in 2010 and completely remodeled, while keeping most of the original design and trim. I'm proud of it (even though it will be for sale shortly,so bring your checkbook, HaHa) and am anxious to share it with all of you. If there are no objections, will plan to have Buddy's BBQ w/tea. If you prefer something different to drink, you are welcome to bring it. I'm pretty flexible on the date, so we can all pool our heads together and come up with one that can accommodate most.

We will pass the hat to help with BBQ cost! Thank you! Is it an "official" photo trip to Alaska? Regardless..I'm envious :)

No, it was just planned on a whim. I decided I would start my bucket list early. Now that I have returned and marked that one off, its time to come up with a second one.
