Introduction. Please tell us a little about yourself.

I am currently studying computer programming at Ivy Tech community college. I have been interested in Japanese culture and language for a long time. When I was young I first got interested in Japanese things because of my interest in the details in samurai armor. I have quite a bit more that I am interested in now that has to do with the language and culture of Japan, such as anime, Japanese architecture, Japanese society, and other interests. Well as you can see on my profile picture I am a big Final Fantasy Fan.

How long have you been studying (or speaking) the Japanese language?

I have been self learning the Japanese language for about a year. I borrow learning books from the library and watch anime. That is about the extent of my learning. My aunt does live in Japan currently and is fluent. So I have a bit of an advantage when it comes to learning.

Are you interested in learning to read and write Japanese in addition to learning the spoken language?

I have learned most of the hiragana and some of the katakana already. Of course they are the easier ones to learn. Katakana gives me troubles for some reason. I know very few kanji but I would be interested in learning to read and write in Japanese. I would like to read parasite eve in the original language of course.

Have you ever been to Japan, or are you planning a trip in the future?

My aunt is planning on sending me a ticket to visit sometime. But I want to finish my school before I go off and relax. I would love to go. If she sent me a ticket to visit her it would be to Nagoya which would be a very metropolitan view of Japan.

What would you most like to get out of this group?

I would love to learn more Japanese. As well as converse with native speakers and learn from them. Finding other people with the same interests as me would also be something that I would want.

Hi my name is Ben. I am very interested in Japan and the Japanese culture and language. Living in the Us I rarely get a chance to practice and learn Japanese at all.
