Announcing a new Meetup for Japanese Language and Culture Meetup Group!

What: Dondo Yaki

When: January 15,[masked]:00 PM

Where: (A location has not been chosen yet.)

Dondo Yaki Matsuri is a festival held in Tokyo Japan, and a few other towns, to celebrate the new year. This type of festival, although not widespread, is held on different dates and is called by different names throughout Japan. During the festival new years decorations are burned in the dondo yaki, a tee pee like structure made of straw and set afire. Mochi, glutinous rice cakes, are toasted over the fire and eaten to bring good health in the new year.

I will post more information as the event approches.

This is a collaborative meetup with Indy Anime Underground.
