Hana and Srikanth's Condo-Warming Party (Potluck) and Noraebang

  • Hana and Srikanth's Condo

The husband and I bought a condo in December 2012 and started living there in earnest in late January 2013, after coming back from our trip to India. Because of circumstances beyond our control and a general inertia we fell prey to, we never had a condo-warming party. Well, now's our chance! No more excuses. We are very excited about welcoming you, our friends, into our "new" home.

Bring something to share. The husband will probably be cooking up a storm. For entirely selfish reasons, I will also be furnishing cheese and desserts. But neither of us drinks alcohol, so BYOB if you want to get your drink on.

The potluck will take place from 2 p.m. to 10:45 p.m. or so. After that we'll be heading over to Lincoln Karaoke (http://lincolnkaraoke.com/) from 11 p.m. to 2 a.m., both because I LOVE private-room karaoke and because it's a 5-minute drive (or 20-minute walk) from our place. Please RSVP as soon as possible for the karaoke portion of the night, as I need to make reservations at least two weeks in advance. Saturday night is ridiculously busy for Lincoln Karaoke. I am imposing a strict deadline of Friday, September 6, for karaoke.

Friends and significant others are welcome—all are welcome, really—but please let me know in advance who is planning to come. You can reach me at[masked]-4415. Or on here, obviously.

Melissa, Kat, and Kate, the very last thing I want to be is a shrew, but could you let me know whether you're coming for 1) the potluck, 2) noraebang, or 3) both?

      Both.

I'm going to still try to come although as it stands now I can't make karaoke :( due to Metra scheduling. If it seems I can't make it at all I'll let you know. I was so looking forward to coming!!

    Hi, all,

I have moved the event start time back to 2 p.m., the original time. My husband is cooking two Indian curries, so a noon start time would be putting undue pressure on him, I think. Also, like many of you, perhaps, I like to sleep in on the weekends. :) See you Saturday! I can't wait!

Will be there for the potluck; not much of a karaoke girl. :) Since you and your husband are cooking up a storm, I'll bring dessert! Hope you guys have a sweet tooth! ^_^ Again, Thanks for hosting Hana!

Kat, my husband is the master chef of our home, haha. I'm not much of a cook! I know where to buy food, though. I will be buying a lot of cheese and sweets in addition to Korean and Japanese food. But I love desserts so much that I am always willing to have more. I have a second stomach just for desserts, haha. I pretty much always order dessert when eating out. :)

I will be there for potluck, but not for Noraebang. Thank you for organizing the event. See you then! :)

Hi Hana, I would love to come but coincidentally I have a dinner commitment already - would love to get together again!

Also, the potluck goes from 2 p.m. to 10:45 p.m., followed by noraebang from 11 p.m. to 2 a.m. So perhaps you could make it earlier in the day? If not, that's cool, too. :)

Final comment on this topic: feel free, everyone, to come as early as you want on Saturday. The husband and I will most likely be up early, preparing for the party. I think I'll be too excited to sleep in!

Hi Hana! Thanks for hosting! Looking forward to meeting you guys. Is there anything in specific you like for the guests to bring? :)

Kat, I would suggest bringing something you want to eat/drink. :) In terms of what my husband and I will be providing, I think there will be an Indian curry or two, sushi, sashimi, assorted Korean dishes, cheese and crackers, fruit, many varieties of sweets, and nonalcoholic beverages (fruit juices, sparking cider, milk, etc.). If you have dietary restrictions or enjoy a glass of wine with your meal, for example, it might be a good idea for you to bake those gluten-free cookies or splurge on a bottle of champagne or whatnot. We will gladly welcome any and all contributions!

Hi, all! The earlier you RSVP the better. For planning purposes, we need to know how much food to buy/prepare and how many people to expect. For noraebang (private-room karaoke) RSVPs, I am imposing a strict deadline of Friday, September 6, because Lincoln Karaoke rooms fill up so fast on Saturday nights. Please specify if you're coming for our condo-warming potluck, noraebang, or both. You can let me know here or via cell phone at[masked]-4415. I can't wait to see your friendly faces on Saturday, September 21! (I know I'm repeating the event description above, but I wanted to make sure you all saw it.)

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
