Speakers of English and Korean unite!

Language exchange focused meetup at a quiet bar venue in a very central London location (about ten minutes walk from Oxford Street). For a map of the location, see the website of the bar linked in the venue details given here.

People at any level of Korean (and English) are welcome at this Meetup. Complete beginners wanting to explore learning Korean also welcome. Participants come from the UK, Korea and many other countries. (There will be a separate Meetup for only those at post-beginner level and above in Korean - details to follow soon).

This will be an opportunity to informally study and practise Korean and/or English, and help others with their Korean and/or English in return. It is also a good chance to chat to others with interests in and links to Korea.

There will be a purely optional "speed-dating style" language exchange event as part of the Meetup from 7.30pm, in a separate area of the bar. Those who would like to participate in this will speak to someone for 5 minutes and then will be asked to promptly change to speak to someone else, again for 5 minutes. This will continue for 30 minutes in Korean, then 30 minutes in English. You can talk about any topic at all, the only thing to remember is you should not to speak to the same person twice.

1 pound per person is collected on the night (this mainly covers the website subscription). We'd also be very grateful if attendees could buy at least one drink (soft/alcoholic) at the bar of the venue to ensure that we continue to be welcomed at this venue.

We may be near the main bar on the ground floor or down in the basement floor bar. We will keep a Meetup sign out.

I've been to this only once before but I felt slightly awkward.......I simply wish that I wasn't as it would be nice to improve my Korean

Cool. I'm just getting noodles at Chang's around the corner. I'll be over shortly.

Anyone likely to be there before 7? As much as I love hanging out in the office, and all ....

Unsure about eating, but I'm sure the usual amount of drink will be consumed (non-alcoholic or alcohlic)... I guess this is the reason that not much exchange of language takes place! Nevertheless, I'm hoping to attend [after a fleeting visit to the KCCUK]. See y'all later.

    Best...

    J

Pack of crisps it is then? I'd be up for getting food afterwards if anyone else is interested.
