Hi all... I'm sorry, but I can't make it tomorrow. Don't let that stop you from studying, though!! :-)

So, what I'd propose people try to learn for the next meetup is: (1) learn the Hangul alphabet and the basic consonant/vowel sounds. You don't have to be great at it, just try to get good enough to be willing to try saying them out loud when quizzed, even if you often get them wrong. (2) learn how to say very simple "it is" sentences: It is a book. I am Jennifer. It is a cat. Learn to say this kind of sentence with five nouns plus your own name, so that you have six sentences you can say. (3) if possible, come to the meetup with your nouns written out on 3x5 cards (or whatever), so that you can say them to the group and teach your nouns, spelling and all, to the group. (4) we can then put all the nouns on the table and practice using them, asking each other, "Is this a pencil?" "Yes, this is a pencil", etc. Visit the early Level 1 ttmik.com lessons (lessons 5 & 6) if you need a place to go learn this. What does everybody think?

I found two videos by Talk To Me In Korean that go over Hangul.

There are three charts at this link. If Ted and Jennifer approve of these charts, we could use them for our homework.

Wow, those are very pretty! I wonder why some letters are bold and some aren't? Are the boldface ones the letters one actually sees in practice, whereas the others aren't? I've never seen the chart "coded" like that. Anyhow -- I think it looks great, so sure, that's a good reference!

Same here Jennifer! If you wouldn't mind can you post the homework for the next meetup? You and Ted know a lot more Korean than most of us. I'm looking forward to the next one. I already posted the date. Thanks!

Hey Latasha sent you a message and never got a response but I am part Korean and learning the language. I need some partners to work with so this event would be great!

I don't drive so a place downtown would be convenient like Barnes & Noble, Panera Bread or The Corner Bakery. They're all located at the Inner Harbor. Tuesday night or Saturday night around 6:30 pm is fine with me. We could meet every other Tuesday or Saturday.

    January 5, 2013

    • Kira

On weeknights could we make it 7? They are hectic.....saturdays that time is perfect. I'll roll with whatever you guys decide though!

I'm in Annapolis, so Towson's a bit of a haul, but if it's easy to get there once I get around the Beltway, I wouldn't mind an every-other-week drive that far. Anybody using any specific study materials? I'm mostly using TTMIK.com.

    January 5, 2013

  • Kira

It may be better to have it at a centered place like downtown convenient to everyone but either way Im cool. And any day at night sounds awesome! Im excited :)

Would like to get the study group going. Any suggestions on a day?

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
