Beginner Level Korean Language Class

  • Jun 11, 2014 · 7:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

This meetup differs from the usual language exchanges, as this meetup has a classroom setting rather than a conversational, social setting.

I will prepare worksheets and exercises for everyone, and then teach the material with the help of a fluent speaker. The material that will be covered in each class will be posted in advanced, so that members can determine if they should attend a specific class or not. This meetup is not a language exchange, and is designed for members who are actively learning beginner Korean. Everyone attending will learn the same material as one group.

Material that will be covered on 6/11/14:
- Past Tense A/V-았/었어요
- Future Tense V-(으)ㄹ 거예요

There is no charge for this meetup. However, I do ask that you purchase at least one item while at Mozart Bakery. Our venue hosts will greatly appreciate our patronage. :)

See you there!

-Assistant Organizer,

Please be considerate, and keep your RSVP up to date.

This set up as a class was terrific. I learned a lot more than I have on my own. Let's continue as this route is very effective!

I love the atmosphere in this group. Megan is very knowledgeable and has tons of patience. I feel encourage to study, learn and practice Korean as much as I can.

I am taking a test. I will be late.

Nevermind, at most, I'll be 10 minutes late, if at all. Class will proceed as usual. ^^

    Hey, everyone.
I will need to be late to tonight's class. There has been a death in my circle at work, so I need to be somewhere this evening.
I won't be at Mozart until 7:30 or 8:00 perhaps. You all are free to still arrive at 7:00 pm. If I'm not there by 7:30, read over the lessons together, and we will start up class once I arrive.

I will not be able to attend the class today. I have 3 days of work on my desk that needs to be completed today and I start my 17 day vacation in 9 days…I cannot mess that up! Love y'all!

Here's the link to the material for this Wednesday's class. It will be available from now until Wednesday night. Please don't not distribute the pages of this book. I'm not looking to get into any legal trouble. ㅋㅋㅋ

Take a look at past and future tense lessons before we meet, and come prepared to speak in Korean. ^^ We will be doing class a little differently.

    See you on Wednesday!

Hello I am utterly and completely new. I need to know where to begin as I feel as though this class may be beyond my scope for the moment. I can say simple things and can spell lion. But I am unfamiliar with anything. So if this isn't the correct place to post , please let me know where I can get beginner information from. Thanks

I have a book called "Learn Hangul in One Hour" by Allen Williams. It gives a good description of each Korean character (one per page), with pronunciation tips. It helped me quite a bit to learn Hangul. The book is available on Amazon. There are also a number of smartphone apps for learning Hangul.

Hello seems you guys already studied more basic material. I can't speak or ready any Korean so far...what suggestion do you have for me?

BTW, I'm on lesson 7 of TTMIK and I feel like I'm actually grasping things. :) thanks everyone for the help.

@Xiomara: Attending the classes is always a good move because not only do you receive all the resources that Meagan provide, you also have the opportunity to network with other learners and teachers, so that you have someone to reach out to when you're not in class. The class is very interactive, therefore, any questions you may have or thoughts and ideas you may want to present can be tendered at that time. The atmosphere is open and very friendly…trust me, you will not be disappointed!

    Hey, everyone!

I just scheduled a separate intermediate class for those who feel they are beyond the beginner material. Lessons from TTMIK will be covered.

Take a look and decide if you want to RSVP for the intermediate class once I post the material for both classes.
