Careers & Jobs in America & South Korea - discussion

  • What is the difference between Korea & USA when it comes to work & career?
  • Are there differences in how the hiring process works in USA/Korea?
  • How can someone be more successful when interviewing in another country?
  • What are some of the common mistakes that can easily be corrected?
  • Is a follow-up email okay or should you write & mail a letter?

We'll explore all of this and more in a presentation/discussion event.

(Volunteers welcome to help organize, or to present, or to lead parts of the discussion - contact the organizer or make a comment when you RSVP).

Pajun (pancakes) & bodi cha (hot tea) will be provided. We'll have our own section of the restaurant. Attendees can also order food from the full Korean menu.

Location is Sam Oh Jung Korean Restaurant in Springfield. A pickup from the Springfield metro can be arranged - please let us know.

Hello all, I'm so excited to get to meet you guys tomorrow. I have a lot of help to offer after talking to Paul (Thanks Paul!!!). I'm a recruiter from Advanced Language Systems International. We are always looking for part-time interpreters in this area so anyone who is at least bilingual are welcome to apply. No experience needed. I'll bring my card tomorrow. I can also help out with resumes, interviews, or any questions you might have about recruiting process. ^_^

Oh, sorry I forgot to leave a comment when I RSVP'd. I'd really like to explore this topic. I helped organize a conference in Korea last year and it was very difficult. Resumes/CVs are different in Korea than in the US too. I'd like to know more about how women and men are treated differently in the workplace and how expectations vary.
