Cost is $20 per person for tubes and every 4 tubers get a tube for your cooler. Offering self-guided canoe, kayak, raft, and tube trips on the South Fork of the legendary Shenandoah River. While floating the normally crystal clear water on this beautiful section of the South Fork of the Shenandoah River you will experience moving water with a few riffles and small waves (Class I) and a couple areas of easy rapids with waves up to 3 feet with wide, clear channels (Class II).
Plan is to meet at Breeze Bakery at 9:30 and then drive to Front Royal (http://goo.gl/maps/M64Dv, 8567 Stonewall Jackson Hwy., Front Royal, VA 22630). Carpooling may be available depending on how many people show up. Please try to make arrangements via the comments section so we are sure we have enough seats for everyone.
They have a small grill and outfitter shop, so we will have lunch there before going on the river. The company will then shuttle us a few miles up river and drop us off. Hopefully we'll be on the river by noon and then float for 3 or 4 hours, ending up back where we parked our cars. After drying off, changing clothes, etc., we will head back to Annandale. For those who aren't tired, we should arrive in time to catch the end of the language exchange meetup at Le Matin de Paris or at least join them for dinner.
As per the website, please dress appropriately (plan to get wet) and bring plenty of water, sunblock, a towel, and extra clothes for the trip back. You must wear shoes during the trip, flip flops are not allowed (strap-on sandals or boat shoes are recommended, your shoes will get wet). Cell phones and cameras should be left in cars if they are not waterproof or kept in a waterproof bag or case. Assume that everything you take on the river will get wet.
Info about tubing from the company's website. You can also make the same trip by canoe, kayak, or raft for additional fees.
