Great Falls Park
= beautiful... 아름다운
We have been to this park at least 6 times (see our many beautiful photos from July 2010 here), and it's time for a repeat trip in the summer! New people welcome - this event is great if it is your first event with our group. We are also planning to say goodbye to a group member who is moving away (Shishi).
From many people's interest in going to Great Falls Park, we'll enjoy walking along the C&O Canal (Maryland side), and see the beautiful "mini-Grand Canyon" waterfalls!
People can also walk along the trail to see the beautiful views, for about 2 hours.
Parking: We will park at the free parking along Macarthur Boulevard, across from Old Angler's. The spots usually start to open up in the mid- to late-afternoon.
The first 2 photos below are from our Nov 2010 event.

Rare Blue Herons are easy to see in the late afternoon - click on the photo to see more of the picture & the falls:
Update: The weather should be nice on that day.
Where to meet - We are meeting around 3pm at the free parking area across the street from "Old Angler's Inn". The location to meet is in front of the new bathroom-type building in the parking lot, even though the building is not open yet, it is visible from the main road on MacArthur. There should be spots in the area. Arrive early by 10 or 15 minutes if you want to be sure. You can drive to the meeting location without finding parking and tell us you are attending so we can wait if needed. Do not park in the restaurant parking area.
Do not meet at the main entrance (where there is paid parking) or at the visitor's center. If you see the visitor's center (photo below) then you will have to walk one hour to meet us at the meetup location. Your other option is to try to meet us on the trial or at the falls (about 10 minutes walking).
We will walk around 3:15 or so from the meetup location, going north to the falls along the paths. If you arrive late you can always try to catch up and find the group.
