Dinner as a second language... ESL/KSL - English & Korean Culture - DC

DC Dinner & Conversation... Mandu is one of the 2 Korean restaurants in Washington DC, near Dupont Circle. The meetup will be in English, but as usual we'll also get a chance to learn some new Korean words in our conversation.

After dinner some of us are going to the Wonder Emporium party - http://wonderemporium...

A great group! We'll do this again at Mandu. Lots of fun afterwards at the Wonder Emporium.

The venue was different from a "typical" Korean restaurant but still interesting to see. For example, the overall feel for the restaurant was more Americanized. This could be seen from things like the waitstaff to completely English menus and service styles of the panchan. The turnout was one of the larger I've seen which was really nice. Most of all, I was able to meet some new people and make some new friends. The Wonder Emporium had some interesting exhibits which lost their luster after about 30 minutes. The venue was interesting and I've never been to something like that before so it was cool to experience. Just when I thought the night was over, there was crazy hot dancing which was a nice wrap up. Good work, Paul!

Okay - I'm going to get my tickets to Wonder Emporium. The tickets can also be bought at the event for $20. So buy online to save money. ( They are setting up the warehouse space today - Yoko K tweeted this photo - http://tweetphoto.com/27685496 )

That sounds really cool, much better than the Black Cat.

One idea is to go to the Wonder Emporium party, which will have hundreds of people as part of the DC Week celebration. I've seen Yoko K perform (last month) and she is one of the people performing. I've also emailed the organizer of the event, from DC Design Babes, and they are all local creative people who want to have a fun event.

Please post your comments if you like this idea. The tickets should be bought in advance ($10). http://wonderemporium.eventbrite.com/

The LemonHeads will be playing: http://www.blackcatdc.com/lemonheads.html

I don't think they sound too country.

Yong Li, the Black Cat is close by. Do you like indie rock?

Sujin, I think you are looking at the wrong month. The meetup is going to be on June 18th, not July 18th.
