Presidential Inauguration Day!

Update: This event does not have an organizer.  Attendees will need to meet up at the agreed time & place, as mobile phone coverage on the mall may not be good.

Every 4 years...

... Washington D.C. has a chance...

... to kick off the 4 years of a presidency.

57th Presidential Inauguration

So if you are interested in going to join in on the Washington DC mall, you can sign up here and find people to go with.   (Note: Do NOT post any political comments here or you may be removed and banned from the group.  This is not a joke.)

The official schedule will look something like this:

9:00 - gates open to enter the Capitol & National Mall areas

10:00 - musical prelude starts

11:30 - ceremony starts

12:30 - ceremony ends

There is always "open seating" areas on the National Mall.  But... you have to arrive early for a good view.

There are also tickets, but they are hard to get, for special seating areas: "Tickets for the Inaugural swearing-in ceremonies will be distributed in January 2013 by both Senators and Representatives elected (or reelected) this November."

Hope it is fun... post pics if you take some. I added Myunghee as an attendee. She's volunteering near the Washington Monument (said she would have to take a 4am bus to get there).

I left the coffee shop and am standing in line at F and 14th. If anyone's around feel free to message me and I can send you my number.

The email said people are meeting at Starbucks in Georgetown, is that still the case? It might be easier to meet closer for instance I know for sure that there is a Caribou coffee right outside of the metro at Metro Center. I was walking around downtown today and Metro Center isn't that far from the event and 3 lines run through that station. I don't know what is around L'Enfant Plaza or Federal Triangle Metro to meet at. Suggestions?

Amber that's probably fine..thanks. I'll update to Caribou. I've used that for events before with one of my other groups.

L'Enfant Plaza and Federal Triangle Metro station are the closest to the event and they are available. if you go early as 5 am it might be less traffic

I plan on coming in from out of town. I'm not likely to be able to get there by 7 am. Is there any way I can meet up with this group once I arrive on the mall?

I'm planning to go to DC today to check out the mall, and possible locations to meet, and I'll update on what I find out. This cold weather was not what I ordered (lol)! At that hour the places open would be coffee shops (i.e. the Starbucks near the open metro stations are options for meeting up spots).

This video has travel info http://www.nbcwashington.com/vi...] (looks like the video is supposed to be on TV as of this Sunday). Note 3 metro stations near the mall are closed (on purpose). More details in this article - http://www.myfoxdc.com/story/20...

Thanks for this notification, Paul! Is there any chance we can get those tickets? Otherwise I think I could arrive early in the morning and wait up til I get a seat for a good view.. 예전에 White House Garden Tour 에도 아침에 일찍가서 줄 서있던 적이 있어요 :)

I had heard that the tickets were gone, for example the ones given to DC government. Usually for every ticket there are 10 or 100 people who request one.
