well "the 3rd time's the charm" was true... the biggest dinner ever (55 people attended) was full of great times, including singing, "Fighting Elephant" gift exchange, and meeting people. So many new "first-timers" to welcome!

One reason why I chose to join this group had to do with the "WARM" feeling I got just reading about the group. Im so moved by, but not surprised by, the effort that some have put fourth to help his fellow man by providing transport to this event.

It may seem like a "small" thing, but, I can barely get a ride from persons I KNOW who are going in the same direction I live in!!!!

I just wanted to thank those who have it in their hearts to show such a "loving" spirit. Shukriya (thank you) :")

Paul, your comment about wearing "something to make it more upscale than a typical dinner," leaves much to the imagination. Could you please be more specific? Do you want men to wear coat and tie, and women to wear dresses?

    December 9, 2012

    • Paul

It is a suggestion... In the first 2 years some wore ties and/or jackets... Dresses too. I don't have a drrss to wear this year.

TRANSPORTATION: I pass the Huntington Metro Station en route to the restaurant. I would be happy to give rides to three people who might be riding the Metro. (Since I drive a small car, you must be under 5'7" [170cm]).

To clarify the dress code for dinner: black boots, red fur-lined suit with matching cap, belt with black buckle, long white beard, cherry nose and cheeks. Big belly optional. :-P

Josephine, you're being naughty! I hope Santa does not find out what you just wrote. But, times being what they are, a bag of coal is really worth something these days. :)

    1 · December 10, 2012

Ummmmm.. Im clear on the "FOOD" issue, however, as far as "ATTIRE" I think I will just go with "DRESSY" I dont want to over think things :) <<<<< still not at ease....Thanks for the reply Paul

Update - the room is all ours... private room with free karaoke! I'll order sushi to share with people who are there early. And, for those who are doing the "White Elephant" gift game/exchange, the earlier you arrive, the higher (better) number you'll get. You can arrive at any time (answering Grace's question) and wear something to make it more upscale than a typical dinner (addressing Sherni's comment). I asked, and we can bring in a cake, if some of you want to bring (or bake) one, probably we can finish off more than one or two. And... what is a "White Elephant" exchange?

Supposedly... "Using the term white elephant came from the white elephant of East Asia, which is of high maintenance but of no practical use."

It may not have a Korean name... let's call it the "파이팅! 엘리펀트 선물교환은" (Fighting! Elephant Gift Exchange), substituting out the 화잇 part. Except let's be calmer than last year lol. http://www.ehow.com/how_2117714_throw-white-elephant-gift-exchange.html
